Day 1 Morning
#51
Minato put his weapon back in his pocket. He had only had a fraction of a second to learn how to use it, and it packed a punch. However, it made the strangest of sounds. He sighed as he and Kakashi sat in a small clearing in the grass. Their battle with that strange man had been short, but it had left him with a stinging sensation in his left arm. On top of that, he was getting hungry. The blonde looked around, the grass looked sturdy enough to weave into some sort of rope. There was also a berry bush nearby, he didn't recognize the plant so he didn't trust it enough to eat for himself, but he had seen some animals running around and figured he could lure something into a trap with them.

'There we go' The blonde man stated as he placed some of the dark red berries at the center of a snare. He'd seem some rabbits moving around while he had been constructing the thing, so he assumed that they would be his best bet. Minato took a couple steps back from his snare, sitting with Kakashi as the two eyed the trap carefully. Watching and waiting for their breakfast to come along.

'How long do you think it'll take?' Kakashi whispered.

'I don't know. How smart do you think these Rabbits are?' Minato responded.

'I don't know.' Kakashi replied. Neither of the two had taken their eye's off of the trap as they spoke to each other.

Their eyes lit up with excitement as one of the rabbits that had been passing by finally decided to investigate. It's nose twitching as it sniffed at the ground around the berries. They didn't say anything, because they didn't want to scare their meal away, but the look on their faces told all. They wanted the rabbit to take the bait, and it did. The grass rope sprung into action, snaring the rabbit by it's throat. Kakashi rushed over and yanked it from the ground, giving it a quick death as he did so.

'Okay! So… How do we skin it?' Minato asked as his voice transitioned from happy to puzzled as he realized that he didn't have a knife on him. Kakashi stared back at him, a disappointed look in his eyes.

'I don't know... I threw a large rock at that guy from earlier, maybe piece of it broke off…?' Kakashi responded.

'Okay, you look for the… sharp rock… and I'll get a fire going.' Minato responded, holding back his laughter as he began gathering small sticks and leaves. Kakashi didn't appreciate his mentor's teasing, but they did need a way to skin the rabbit before cooking it.

Their fire cracked lightly, letting off a small chimney of smoke as the two shinobi ate the pieces of cooked rabbit. It wasn't the best tasting meat in the world, but it would do. It also meant that they wouldn't be running on an empty stomach, for now, at least.
