Reality Uncheck
#7
Clicking her tongue, Morene found it strangely amusing that Yuuko could look at somebody like her and doubt in their likelihood to believe such stories. After all, Yuuko could only assume how weird must it have been in this context, if Morene herself wasn't much at all phased by being shoved into a blinding white void with no signs back home, wherever that must have been.

"Oh, you mustn't worry," Morene perked up, "I've heard much stranger!"

Yuuko blinked, looking straight into Morene's eyes. Even for the blue-haired maiden, she could easily assume that by merely watching Morene's facial expressions, she wasn't kidding.

Slowly, Yuuko stammered out in response, "Oh, well... In that case... Thank you for listening, Miss Morene."

The huntress giggled lightly, only nodding her head back in return as she slid her body to face the empty whiteness of the Nexus. Squinting, Morene swore she saw more than a few moving specs in the distance, which in a situation like this, she could only hope was a good thing. Yuuko, clasping her hands together, looked at her slightly dirtied shoes, seeming to be at a loss for words.

It was at that moment, Morene's lips seemed to have formed a crooked frown, her eyebrows raised slightly that both of these fountain dwellers would have to get up and move. A terrible thought, indeed!

Well, perhaps not in Morene's case, for her suit allowed her to fly, but... Unless Yuuko got up and sprouted wings from her back, looked as if that wasn't the case at all.

Sighing, Morene's eye twitched at the very temptation to get up on her feet, seeing how they were already killing her for whatever reason. Yuuko, though quiet, seemed to take notice.

"Miss Morene? Is there something wrong?"

The eldest of the women's eyes shot open, Morene not intending at all for Yuuko to have heard her so vexed.

Morene could only let out yet another chuckle that almost broke the poor schoolgirl's eardrums. "Well!" she began, "I realize now we have to get moving soon, don't we?"

Yuuko almost fell off her seat after leaning back as far as would be considered natural in response to the sudden outburst, but after giving the actual sentence enough thought, the blue-haired maiden found herself nodding quietly in agreement, her words following short.

"Yes, but... Where will we go?"

"Ah," the huntress began, certain at first, before looking down realizing she had absolutely no idea. She continued to stammer, "I--... Hm... We'll just go where the wind takes us, I suppose!"

Slowly, Yuuko thought of such an idea, wandering around the unknown lands finding whatever purpose the environment and society, if there even was one, would give them. Perhaps it was just her way of thinking, but didn't that usually lead to trouble? Of course, if Morene thought it be appropriate, and safe for that matter, could she be wrong? Surely, Yuuko had only known her for a few minutes at most, but so far she's been the one to support her every second of the way, so...

Yuuko replied, confidence in her voice for seemingly the first time, "Very well."

Those two words were short, and needless to say simple. Though, that couldn't have masked the implications that, in Morene's glistening eyes, Yuuko trusted her now. The armor-clad woman could only hope future events allowed her to prove to Yuuko that she'd do anything to repay that trust.

Shaking her head, deciding not to get too dramatic with the situation, Morene hopped up off of the fountain, her thick boots colliding with the base of the Nexus, a loud clap following soon after.

"In that case," the huntress began once more, "let's get going, shall we?"

Though nervous, Yuuko could not refuse, and to show for it, she rose as well. Soon, they walked, walked until their feet became numb towards the growing dot on the horizon of the void. Though there may have been other places they could have gone, in the back of their minds, both spawns of Omni knew from the newfound energy surging within them, that this Omniverse would certainly hold many adventures in the days to come.

It was a nice thought, Morene silently told herself, if not a bit cheesy.
