Adam's Game
#7
Time for highlights and other assorted out of context quotes from this weekend's pre-session solo games of Dead Game.

I regrettably failed to keep a running tally of everything that came up that was worthy of some hilarity, but here is what I remember.

Ganondorf Wrote:I went to find an old man. Found meteor strike and old man zombie. Killed him easily and nearly got murdered by a chest. Killed it though. Found buddies and nearly got chest murdered again. That's the first session, in a nutshell.

The first chest was a mimic-lite, and Ganny murdered it fairly easily after its initial surprise attack. Looted it for some nice stuff. Met some dudes, who directed him to a merchant. Paranoid merchant noticed Ganny sneaking around without difficulty, directed him to another chest. It was trapped. Ganny ate some darts to the everything, almost died, but got more sweet loots. Went back to the merchant, reunited with his other new pals, and settled in for the night.

Middle of the night: suddenly demons. They fight them off with no problems. Find another chest with more loot inside. Take it, set off into the desert to continue on their quest.

Second session, they stop for the night in a canyon. Setting up for the night, a dragon-lady approaches. She is immediately trusted by everyone but one of the NPCs, due to almost everyone doing terribly on insight checks.

Soon enough they stumble across a cactus-man-thing in their midst. No one is at all perturbed.

"Well, while the warlock and the dragon lady are negotiating indentured servitude..." Ganondorf 'sold' a magic longsword to Odjuskriid (the aforementioned dragon lady) for 10 GP and a promise to serve him until the remainder of the debt was paid off. They never discussed when that would be. And while they were doing this, the Merchant reveals bad news.

Conversing with the cactus-man reveals bad news, and a scouting trip reveals more bad news: bandits, and quite a few of 'em.

They all set up a plan for ambush, which went off reasonably well. Got in the first shot.

Bandits closed in, their archers attacking....and two of them dropping their bows.

Merchant hit himself in the face with his own thrown weapon (crit-fails, man.)

Ridiculous damage happened all around. Monk jumped down off the cliff and caved in the faces of two of the archers, and his partner shot them both down.

Bandit captain managed to get through and engage Ganondorf in melee combat. "What's the worst that could happen?"

One natural 20 later and Ganondorf has burned a plot point to survive with a missing hand. He retaliates by punching the bandit captain in the face with his bloody arm-stump. Then the cactus-man-thing comes in and goes fucking nuts.

Green Beat
Senor Cactilido • (Special Action)
Desc. Senor Cactilido whirls into a spinning dervish and crashes into its target.
Effect 26 | 20 vs. AC
18 Bludgeoning Damage

The bandit captain, losing a third of her health in one hit, decides it might be best to retreat.

She makes good progress, and almost manages to get away, before Ganondorf scales the cliff and from the bleeding stump of his arm, a ghostly hand of magical energy comes into being, and a beam of magic lances forth. From 107 feet away he Eldritch Blasts the bandit captain in the back. Natural 20. Barely enough to kill, but he deals the final blow, just as she was about to escape.

And then he decides to try and find his hand.

"Roll Investigation to find your hand."

And he did. Merchant managed to re-attach it with healing magic.

I wish I could remember more but that's all I got right now. Other people that participated may have more to add.
