Sans should've known that a place like Stark Tower would eventually get raided.
It was an unusual event, to say the least. He felt like he was experiencing some kind of loop, where all he was doing was reliving the same events over and over and over again. Maybe not the same ones, but they always seemed to accomplish the same things. Some lone human comes barging into other people's business without seemingly any rhyme or reason aside from the fact he “had to.” Sure, you “have to” start causing a ruckus in the foyer. You “have to” take an elevator dangerously close to the top floor, where they kept the portal.
The skeleton always got a first-hand glimpse of the swirling, gargantuan portal each time he got up to the top floor to go to work. It was massive, and looked like a perfectly swirled piece of yogurt. It was blaze orange, with the middle being stark black, and easily towered over everything else on the floor. The only reason it was even IN the building was because it wasn't; it was actually on the rooftop. It was on a platform that overlooked the city. That platform was originally built as some kind of outdoor pool and quite possibly a place for helicopters to land, judging from the massive amounts of concrete on it as well as being relatively flat. Now, it housed their finest research project yet: The portal.
The comic had taken one last look at the gateway to infinity before he had opened the door to his station. The scientists stationed in small, metal booths nearby had noted that the movement of the outside edges of the egress had quickened, but couldn't quite correlate that to anything else. He had asked if the team they had sent out a week earlier had returned, to which he only earned a solemn sigh, followed by a shaking of the head. He got the message pretty quickly and decided to just go to work and not think about that particular bit of information.
His station, compared to everyone else, was rather claustrophobic. It was essentially a long, dark room with only one notable aspect of it: The cameras. His job was to basically look at live camera footage all day, every day during the day shift. The footage was relayed through flat-screen monitors that looked similar to the ones used by laptops, and were about as big too. There were around 400 of them, to be exact, four for each floor. When he had first arrived there, he had to get help really fast as he couldn't have possibly looked through all of them at the same time. Then he figured out that he really didn't. All he had to do was sit in his chair, slide himself into the desk, and drink ketchup and coke products until the day was done. This was because of the fact that, for the most part, if anything weird was going on, his eyes would instantly snap towards it.
The good thing about being a security guard was that, even if no one wanted to admit it, you had a degree of leadership and control on what went down in the building. He had a red lever to the left of the camera console on the table, which he only had to pull if something DANGEROUS was happening, and a microphone to his right that he used to report in stuff on certain floors thanks to switches placed on the sides. He once started reenacting Mettaton with the intercom, which got money removed from his paycheck, but in the end he thought it was a worth a laugh or too. Judging from the video that got uploaded onto the internet a few days after that little episode, everyone else did too.
The security guard snapped his eyes shut, reopening them to look at the monitor labeled Camera 83B. He couldn't believe he had been wasting his time thinking about the good old days when there was an INTRUDER near the top floor. Er, two to be exact. A little lady with a large, red scythe had apparently broken through the floor ABOVE Floor 83, and was currently standing in front of the gunman. She didn't appear to be threatening him, and he had his gun lowered slightly. They looked as if they were talking, but without sound, Sans had no means of making sure. He decided to figure it out for himself.
He flipped a switch labeled 83 on his microphone, pulling it towards the edge of the table. He leaned forward, speaking into it.
--------------------
“testing, testing? ahem.” A goofy voice rang out within the halls around Flynn Tagart, “intruder, if you can hear me, i kindly ask that you please proceed to the nearest speaker within the room you are in. to operate it, press the glowing red button and say stuff into the microphone.”
The super soldier glanced up towards the location of the loud, booming voice, which was revealed to be a large air siren that would be used to blast noises for tornadoes approaching rather than for someone to talk through it. He cautiously brought his shotgun upwards, pointing the barrel away from the woman for a moment. He lifted his hand, wordlessly stopping the lady in her tracks as he walked back towards the elevator, seeing a glowing button on a white mouthpiece. Near it, a sign said “To activate, press and hold the red button. Our security guard will inform you of any info needed here at Tony Stark Tower.”
Heh... interesting name.. thought the Doomguy as he somewhat violently pushed his index finger into the button.
“Hello, mister security guard?” He uttered, waiting for a response.
“hi.” replied the voice, “i'm sans. sans the skeleton. comic sans. sans the security guard. they all work.” The small speaker chimed the same voice that was on the air horn, albeit quieter and more static sounding.
“Nice to meet you, Sans. Why did you call me?”
“i want to inform you that you aren't really making a good call in doing this.”
“I figured.”
“no, seriously, whatever you are doing can be taken elsewhere.”
“I'm here for the portal?”
“the....portal?”
“Yes. The portal. Where is it?”
“my guess is you already- sorry, i'll be right back, WHAT IS IT?” The small speaker rang out before cutting off entirely.
-----------------
“Something just came out of the portal!” One of the scientists replied, poking his head into the station.
“what did?” The skeleton replied, nervously glancing back towards the camera with each passing second.
“I don't know. They look like...animals, really. A few humans, too. They mentioned they came from...underground? I don't know what they-”
“Underground?” Sans replied, his voice going eerily quiet.
“Y-Yes.. come, see for your self.” The human murmured, opening the door for the skeleton to see.
The guard stepped towards the door, stopping as soon as he saw who had passed through. It was... it was...
“Papyrus...Frisk...Toriel..”
And instantaneously, he knew what he had to do.
Without a moment to spare, he sprinted back towards the table, his bony fingers grasping the handle of the red lever. Alarms blared all across the building, red lights filling the rooms with color as he screamed into the intercom, his voice devoid of any silliness.
“All security personnel, we have a class A intruder on Floor 83! That means highly dangerous for the noobs here. I want everything SEALED OFF. NO ONE GETS UP TO THE TOP FLOOR, UNDERSTAND? Suspect is wearing green and is armed to the teeth. If possible, take him alive, but if at all impossible, SHOOT TO KILL.”
The monster swiftly grasped the wire connected to the mic, ripping it out of its socket behind the table. The human science man took a step back, shaking a bit as the skeleton turned to him, his eyes pitch black and his voice disembodied. He spoke quietly, but with an obviously threatening manner.
“Where is a way down that doesn't involve the stairs or the elevator?”
“Well, there is one but it's-”
“I don't care if it's slow! I'm using it!”
