Your application is pretty good overall. Dueling Cane seems fine, but I have more advice rather than something to change on "Knowledge is my shield." 15 seconds is a long time to form a shield and most likely people will have attempted to attack you before then. I'd recommend lowering the time in order to be more useful in combat.
The Pen is mightier than the sword- This is mostly good for the first part until you say you can turn. If you'd like it to be an area attack then it can only be that and if you want it to be a single target it can only be that. If you want to keep it single target i'd probably get rid of anything after turning
