Solomon Grundy vs. Colonel
#4
Colonel's face showed a very rare moment of genuine emotion, his eyes widening in shock at the sudden action of the hulking abomination, actually pulling his bladed arm deeper into the wound, and firmly anchoring the mechanized soldier in place, preventing his escape. On firm footing, he may have been able to extricate himself from the steely grip of the giant zombie, but as the brute leaped into the air any purchase he had to try and gain some leverage flew south. Colonel grit his teeth in frustration and tried to clear his mind for what he knew was coming. This was going to hurt.

K-KRA-KRASH

For his credit, Colonel didn't make a sound, of either pain or anything else. His face twisted into a mask of pure agony, and all the breath was driven from his lungs, and his entire body went numb for a moment, but he didn't make a single sound of pain.

He lay in a distinctly Colonel-shaped crater for a handful of moments, sparks and jolts of electricity arcing from each and every joint in his body, shimmering, cerulean flows of vague pseudo-liquid, the data that composed his form, slowly floated out from several of the sparking sections, dissipating harmlessly into the air. He was in pain. Damaged. But not debilitated.

His free arm came up and around, and with a wrenching motion, planting both legs into the ground for leverage, his fist crashed into the undead hulk's head. There was a faint, meaty crunch of impact, the brute's head flung sideways from the blow, but he only turned his leering, simple expression slowly back. A shattered tooth and vague fist-shaped imprint on his face the only things to show for the punch that would have put a hole through concrete. It sent a chill down Colonel's spine, and let him know he had to act fast to get out of this behemoth's grip if he didn't want to get torn apart.

In a sputtering flicker, the blade of his saber dissipated, as if it had just given up on this whole ordeal, and Grundy took the moment to haul his still begrappled foe up out of the crater, intending to no doubt visit more simple, but all too effective violence upon him.

He never got the chance.

There was a flicker of energy from the deactivated blade emitter on Colonel's arm, and then a bolt of energy hit the giant brute, square in the face. The unexpected blow had just the reaction Colonel hoped it would, and he let out a furious roar, hurling the soldier program in his grip bodily away. It sounded more like all that had happened was he'd made the virtually-impervious corpse mad, more than anything else. But he was free of being manhandled for now, and that was all that mattered to him for now.

He hit the ground on one side, skidding through the dirt and rocks, over the small, rugged mountaintops. He came to a halt, quite a ways away from his monstrous opponent, face down in the dirt. It was an ordeal to get himself back to a standing posture again, but as soon as he did, his saber flared back to life, and his gaze snapped up to the unwavering juggernaut, already stomping toward him again, resolute and implacable.

Colonel brought up one hand, holding it out toward his foe. And in his mind was a single objective: "Charge."

It took several seconds, but eventually the feeling of his army clicked into place. And one of the loyal soldiers of the Colonel Army sprang to life at his right hand, behind him. It took two steps forward, shouldered the rifle it bore, and unleashed a steady stream of energy bolts at Grundy. They were weak, and would likely do little more than slow down the juggernaut, but that would be all Colonel needed.

Bringing his saber up, he took off at a slow run at an angle, a rough parabola that would keep him out of his own soldier's line of fire while still carrying him toward his foe. And the whole way he slowly focused a charge of power into his saber, sparks dancing along the blade. Need to end this fast.
