As Somerled discovered the hard way, the moose is a rather stubborn animal, and would not be lured out of its ankle-deep puddle so easily. This was especially true given that his idea of ‘coaxing’ was less luring it out, and more trying to brute force it out. This method, while it does have its uses, doesn’t work so well when the thing you’re trying to force is almost a foot taller than you and outweighs you by a thousand or so pounds. Even with his monstrous strength and the fact that he had the behemoth by the antlers, his disadvantageous position of precariously balancing on the edge of the fountain prevented him from actually pulling the thing out of the water. The moose simply lowered its head and pulled back, putting the two in a stalemate.

Deciding that this was going nowhere, Somerled gave up on that method, pushing off the moose’s antlers in order to regain his balance. The lumbering animal, in response to the force suddenly giving up, simply snorted, and leaned down to drink from the fountain. Lacking any sort of finesse or subtlety, the spirit quickly decided that the next course of action would be to use the crack of thunder to spook it out.

“Don’t even think about it,” Sonny interrupted, knowing his other half all too well. “We don’t need a fucking moose rampaging around, scared out of its mind. It’s water, who cares if you get your feet wet, you can’t even feel it.”
Somerled grumbled something incoherently in response, his tone betraying irritation despite the lack of actual words being said. He leaned back towards the dry ground behind him, and grabbed the saddle from the spot he had set it. Then without any of the hesitation he had earlier, he jumped right into the water of the fountain next to the beast.

The calm animal paid no mind to the giant seat being strapped to its back, continuing to drink. Finishing the strapping quickly thanks to the cooperativeness of the mount, Somerled was able to quickly move onto the reins. Upon having its snout lifted out of the water by the monster’s forceful hand, the moose let out a protesting snort, but didn’t make any move to pull its head away. The reins slipped on quickly enough, and with a short look-over, making sure all the straps were tight, Somerled pulled himself onto the beast, ready to go.
