He can hold the charge as long as he can hold his breath up until he actually attempts an attack with the Overdrive, then the charge is used absolutely no matter what. Is that clear?

EDIT: I've modified the description for Overdrive to elaborate even better- a charge for an Overdrive can be maintained as long as her can hold his breath, but the moment he exhales, the Hamon energy is released, no matter what.
