The Ivory-haired warrior's right foot moved back half a step as the draconic titan addressed her. The man... she could safely assume, at least, that he was a man - spoke with grace and kindness that belied his features. When he introduced himself as "King Axorn", Weiss wasn't in the least surprised. The reptilian royal spoke in a kind but formal tone, in a manner that could be seen as a lecture, friendly advice, or simply the nuanced musings of a content soul. He definitely seemed like someone who could claim that title.
Weiss felt a little bad, now. Here she'd been standing and gawking, and yet despite his fearsome appearance, King Axorn was more polite than most regular boys she'd been forced to turn down throughout her first year at beacon. She'd just blindly judged him as intimidating and odd based off of appearance alone.
Though she hoped she'd be forgiven for being a little overly wary given she'd just recovered from being beaten to an inch of her life just a few moments prior to their conversation.
"It's nice to meet you too, King Axorn." she replied with a diplomatic smile. "I'm Weiss Schnee..." Weiss trailed off, thinking of what she was to add. Huntress, Heiress, princess... she'd lost all those title long before she'd came to the omniverse. She'd lost all of it - or, more accurately, thrown it all away. It seemed like a lifetime ago, now, that all of it had still meant something... Her eyes darted over to see the flutter of a red cape, as she saw Ruby grinning at a young girl.
Well... some of it still meant something. Or, maybe it was all that had really meant anything in the first place.
"...Member of team RWBY." Weiss finished a half-second later, before shaking Axorn's hand firmly. The Dragon king smiled in response, as his eyes seemed to search Weiss's own - though for what, if anything, Weiss wasn't really certain. She was certain he'd been appraising her sword earlier, though, and not for monetary value.
Not that he really needed to be cautious around her. Her last fight had already proven just how useless Myrtenaster was with a wielder of her caliber behind it.
Ruby introduced herself soon after, and Weiss took a brief moment to take a breath. "It's way too warm here." She muttered, as she felt her head swim. Even as Ruby chuckled, Weiss could barely even seem to hear it-
-Blood ran down her temples, as the medics clustered in around her. Weiss felt the shrapnel jam into her temple was violently snapped to the side, and allshe wanted was to scream, but she couldn't move, And she realized it was over. All of her determination, all of her will... It didn't mean anything when it was in the hands of a weak little girl who-
"Weiss! Weiss!"
The ex-huntress heard her partner's frantic cries as her eyes slowly opened. She'd fell, at some point - that much was clear.
She also had no idea just what had just happened.
Ruby was looking at her with a mixture of panic and concern. Her next statement was reflexive. "I'm fine..."
Ruby's eyes searched Weiss's own, and those silvery discs probed her face for any sign of falsehood or secret. Finally, her smile returned, though her White-garbed partner could see the worry hidden in the depths of that grin. "Geez, you really can't take the heat, can you, ice queen?" Ruby asked with a teasing tone, though it lacked just a bit of the traditional Ruby Rose enthusiasm.
"You know, one of these days..." Weiss said with a groan, pulling herself back up to her knees - a rather insistent hand told Weiss that she was not allowed to stand up all by herself, thank you very much - "Someone needs to explain why everyone calls me that."
That got a much more genuine, full-barrel laugh from Ruby, complete with snort.
