Shay could admit, he hadn't felt this embarrassed with himself since he was a teenager. The Templar was in such a panic he couldn't help to sound afraid. Shay hated showing his own fears, especially now considering a huge boar charging at him at full speed with an infant riding on top of it's dirt-smeared back.
Closing his eyes, Shay only hoped that the pit in his stomach would cease to exist in a few moments. For once in his life, the Templar felt horribly overwhelmed, and though he knew nothing could help him at this point, Shay raised his arms into the air, backing into the brick wall behind him in preparation for the oncoming spike of pain he was about to receive.
Shay wheezed, choking up as the roar got louder, and when the time came, the Templar finally felt a sudden strain on his arms, the hot breath of Ganon causing Shay to gag. The Templar's back scratched against the wall, expecting to have a sudden loss in motor functions soon, but surprisingly enough, he was still moving just fine. In fact, Shay noted as he opened his eyes, this wasn't too difficult at all.
It was then Shay heard the familiar grunts of a rather small voice right next to him. Shay almost mistook it as a random civilian, but looking down, he saw a short, brunette girl taking all the blunt force Shay was about to deal with only a second ago. The Templar then realized it was Agnès Oblige standing by his side, pushing against Ganon's tusks with all of the strength in her body, forcing the monstrous creature's claws to dig into the sand beneath it.
"Don't ignore me!" Agnès shouted into Ganon's face, the boar showing nothing in it's eyes but absolute seething rage, pushing harder onto the two New Babylonians as Stewie laughed at the sight.
Despite the annoying child's laughter, the sight of Agnès committing this hard drove him, the Templar finding the horrible knot in his stomach loosening up a bit. The sight of Ganon was still terrifying, and the feeling of the boar's coarse skin was absolutely disguising to touch, even to somebody like Shay, but knowing he wasn't alone in battle helped his morale by tenfold.
Taking his already injured right arm, Shay drove his gloved palm into Ganon's snout, pushing the giant boar back a few more inches. Agnès kept pushing, before hearing a strange popping sound in her left ear.
At the corner of her eye, Agnès saw Shay's hidden blade glisten in the sun above the battlefield, watching and listening to the awful sights and sounds of the boar yelping in pain as the Templar's knife stabbed into Ganon's pig-snout. Blood, mucus and sweat drenched Shay's sleeve and the grounds of Nippur, watching as Stewie and Ganon finally gave the Babylonians space to breathe.
Shay stepped to the side, himself and Agnès both moving away from Ganon and Stewie, the latter of whom seeming to be very confident in their ability to win. Looking over to Agnès and her almost unscathed condition however, Shay felt it was going to be a bit more complicated than that. The Templar nodded at the wind vestal, keeping close eye on the recovering boar and his comrade.
"Stay back a bit," Shay whispered, "and wait until my move before you go in."
Agnès froze for a split second, before nodding a bit frantically, keeping her fighting stance. She could only wonder what in the world Shay had up his sleeve in his condition, and despite her wanting to object to him doing anything further, she knew the two of them had to do something to get out of a situation as sticky as this.
Before they had any time to react, Stewie shouted for Ganon to charge. The boar, huffing in annoyance, slammed onto the ground, pulling it's hind legs back to pounce on the two horribly outmatched opponents of theirs. Shay looked at Agnès, giving her a quick glance as he jogged forward into the direction of Ganon.
Agnès' heart sank, her arm reaching outward, wishing she'd not agreed to whatever Shay had planned.
"Wait--!" the vestal shouted, stopping her lips from saying anything further as the monstrous pig roared once more, jumping towards the Templar.
Clenching onto his flamethrower, Stewie laughed, looking at Shay stop in place as if he were frozen in fear.
Only a second later did the boar and the infant see Shay swing his rifle over his shoulders, take a knee, and before they had any time to react, hearing something burst out of the tubular device beneath the musket-like weapon.
Ganon only saw the grenade in the air for a fraction of a second before it exploded at his knees.
