The sound of gunfire reverberated through the air, and the rainbow coalescence vibrated for a moment as the concentrating monster startled. He retained his composure, however, and with it, his progress. If any trouble were to come his way, he would trust in his other half to warn him. This concentration didn’t hold well for very much longer, however, and the form shuddered as his mind wandered, making himself a mental note to punch someone later because these distractions were not to be tolerated. Taking a deep breath, Somerled entirely regained his concentration, and the saddle began taking an actual form. A very spiky, angry form.

Sonny, on the other hand, jumped from the gunshot. Or rather, he jumped as much as being a consciousness trapped in someone else’s body can, which is more like a mental “Oh shit!” than anything else. This strong lapse in concentration shattered the spell he was weaving, and the magic he had borrowed to create his own temporary body dissipated. Unable to curse outwardly, because doing so would piss off his other half, he cursed inwardly, and turned his consciousness to continue observing the events to see who he could yell at for this distraction when he had the time and body to.

This, of course, lead absolutely nowhere. He had no idea what to make of this situation. The man was still trying to put his best pacifist foot forward in getting along with the shell-shocked soldier, despite all her attempts at being contrary, and Sonny didn’t know whether he should be impressed with his dedication or sighing at his stupidity. What he did know, however, was that if the soldier decided she was gonna make another attempt at an attack, however she would go about that, he would bring down the swift hammer of “shut the fuck up” in between the both of them and make peace forcefully.
