"Ah, fuck."
Orion rose to his feet, wood splinters raining from his shoulders. His entire body thrummed with pain, and little wonder; most of his skin had some cut or deep graze, though the blood had dried from the wounds. A pile of shattered wood and glass surrounded him. He couldn't remember how he got there. He was with Sinestro and Dean, and a red headed man had also appeared, and then -
NOVA static. Dammit! It must've malfunctioned while he was flying, and the debris around him the remainder of his impact. He clenched his fists.
"Ah, fuck!"
His left hand was broken; coils of fire burned around his fingers beneath the skin. His right hand was intact, but melee combat was an unwise proposition. Damn! The first fight since he came here and his NOVA unit cheated him.
Orion shot into the air, searching for his allies. A yellow flare ignited in the air. Sinestro. He rocketed towards the Lantern, stopping on a dime before him in mid air. "Sinestro!"
The red skinned man eyed the saiyan, lips flat. "Orion. So you finally managed to join us."
"Don't give me that bullshit. It was outside my control." Orion looked down. An object hurtled towards the ground, though from his distance it was unrecognisable. "You drop something?"
Sinestro nodded. "Intentionally."
Orion clenched his teeth. The cuts and bruises layered over his body burned, but it only served to fuel his battle lust. To take such wounds from falling out of the sky ...
"Who's the enemy? Tell me who to fight!"
Sinestro's yellow eyes lingered on the saiyan. "Find Dean. Maybe Ganondorf, if he needs the help. Or Gildarts."
Orion stared back. "Who?"
"Ganondorf. The red headed fellow. And Gildarts, the one we found in the desert."
"You won't fight beside me?"
Sinestro smirked. "I appreciate the thought, but the others will need your assistance more than I."
Orion narrowed his eye. Figures. "So be it."
The saiyan turned his attention to the battlefield once more, soaring downwards in a wreath of blue fire. He considered activating his sensors, but the NOVA unit was simply too flaky to trust.
Orion alighted upon a stable roof, placing his left hand on the tiles. Pain stabbed his broken digits. He fell onto his side, the rough edges of the tiles digging into his ribs. A prickly tightness drew in his chest and clenched his jaw. Catching himself, Orion expanded his lungs and fired his breath out of his nostrils in sharp jets. Calm down. There's still plenty of time to kill something.
His eye scanned the town below him. There was no sign of Dean, and Orion thought he'd be the easiest one to locate, considering his rampant disregard for tranquillity in the quietest of times. Ditto for Gildarts, who was rending huge scars in the desert not long ago. Ganondorf, though, was little more than a rather striking appearance.
A desperate, pain-wracked scream penetrated the white noise of battle.
Orion searched for the sound and spotted its source. An olive skinned man with a shock of red-orange hair writhed on the ground, his face pulled into a tortured mask. Ganondorf. Incessant fingers of white lightning stabbed his body relentlessly. Another man in a robe stood over him, a white stick raised in his twisted wrist. The fierce electricity burst from the tip of the stick.
"A wizard," Orion muttered. "All magic users be damned."
The tiles beneath his feet were obliterated as the saiyan exploded off the mark, flying right for Ganondorf's aggressor. Orion's feet slammed into the earth beside the abominable sorcerer, who took a brief moment to gaze at him.
Orion threw an open palm outwards. "Drop the stick, coward."
The wizard opened his mouth, but Orion's shout devoured his response. A rippling wall of ki launched from his hand and slammed into the robed attacker, knocking him off his feet and onto his back a good distance away.
The saiyan looked to Ganondorf. A groan left his lips. Alive.
Orion refocused. The sorcerer climbed to his feet, scowling. He thrust out his wand and his lips moved.
"Ferventis Gelata!"
A stream of viscous white lava burst from the wand. Orion threw out his arms and formed a Ki Shield over his body. The searing magic splashed onto the shield, quickly dissolving it. Orion tried to pull back but the boiling stream slopped onto his hand. His left hand.
The spell chewed through his leather glove, though the steel of the arm guard protected his forearm. Orion roared at the bloom of pain. His fiery aura burst to life, and a spark of blue light materialised before his thrust, undamaged hand.
"I hate magic!"
A crackling beam of ki launched forward, drowning the area in brilliant white-blue light.
