Damn this wretched place.
The thief groaned as he struggled to stand, leaning against the very wall he had slammed into in order to keep his balance. The world around him spun as he felt sick to his stomach, giving a small coughing fit, wheezing into his hands before looking at them, seeing a crimson liquid. Damn did that hurt. He had been too rushed with his attacks. if he had been conservative, he might have been able to plan a counter to his chains being used against him. Next time, it won’t be that easy.
After taking a few breaths, the world regressed from its swaying and blurred state and Demetri's head began to clear. Now, where was he? As he expanded his senses, he felt the presences of the two that attacked him leave the vicinity, most likely in search of other warriors. Perhaps they believed him dead, which made his case better, for now he still held the element of surprise.
Another cough forced its way out of his throat as he grinned. They would regret underestimating him. He would not allow himself to be made a fool of again. Such insolence will be repaid with devastating consequences. Within a few seconds, the thief had vanished, leaving nothing but a bloody hand-print on the wall.
Demetri rushed back to the battlefield, soon sensing the mage that that had fought alongside him just moments ago. The enemies should not be too far ahead.
Then, more Primes. It seemed to be that the other members of New Babylon had joined in the fight, though they weren't in the greatest condition. It was obvious that they were taking quite some damage, and the thief soon found out why.
The damned red-faced sorcerer had powered himself up, increasing his potency by what Demetri guessed to be at least fifty percent. An interesting ability, perhaps he would be able to accomplish such a feat with omnilium. However, now was not the time to dwell on such a subject. Demetri stayed down on the streets and alley's, hoping to avoid any possible crossfire from the battle. The members of New Babylon were trumped with the sorcerer's new form, and as the thief came closer, he sensed the man pick up one of its members and bring them to the sky. He could quickly assume the reason. In another area, the mage had managed to cripple the warlock, conceiving some pain inducing spell that kept him in place.
As the thief pushed the limit of his speed, he sensed the member fall, before he could even see it happen. He would not have much time, and formed a quick plan. This would surely revive his pride and show these imbeciles he was not one to be trifled with. He then quickly used his chains to scale the nearest building, his black leather armor feeling the warmth of the sun once more, before finally finding his target. Swiftness and skill would be needed to pull of this daunting task.
Once his foot slammed onto the edge of the building, Demetri leaped into the air, his eyes locked onto his targets. The sorcerer suspected nothing as the thief prepared his attack, his chains then ripping through the air and finding their mark around his leg. The second chain flew out as the thief began to swing, it also finding its target as the falling member of New Babylon widened her eyes in surprise. Using all of the strength he could muster, the thief swung in an arc, twisting the falling woman's velocity in the direction of the hindered warlock, while at the same time bringing down the flying sorcerer. His image faded back to the visible spectrum as he managed to slingshot the woman at the enemy, his chain retracting back immediately after.
The red-faced mage then gave the thief a menacing look, reaching down to grab the chain wrapping his limb.
“Not this time.” The thief gave a smile, retrieving a small dagger from his satchel and lodging it in his chain before giving a twist, shattering both of them. As he fell from the sky, he focused once more, splitting his image into five and landing in a roll on the building parallel to the one he leaped from. As each one split into a different direction, the thief slunk back into the shadows, leaving a clone in his wake to join the four others as he made his way back down to the streets, ducking inside a building to prepare his next attack.
