Legacy & War (Battle of Nippur)
#30
Victor saw the demon flying towards him, ready to spread his organs over the sandy streets. It was a dire situation, the knife wound had not pierced any major organs, but the blood loss was making the assassin feel light headed. Had the flying man not intervened, Victor wouldn't have been in any real danger, but unfortunately for the assassin, lady luck was not on his side. Thinking fast Victor braced himself, attempting to absorb the impact from the abomination hurtling towards him.Dean possessed a maddening smile as the prospect of skewering the assassin with his blade brought him to gleeful laughter.Victor waited until the last minute backwards with a huge burst of speed catching his opponents off guard, Thaal could not pull Dean up fully in time causing him to hit the ground with reduced impact. Victor dived into the nearest building he could find, leaving a large trail of blood towards the entrance. Dean followed hot in pursuit of his victim.

The house was a three bedroom two floor property near Nippur’s market district, the owners were probably out at the market when the attack happened and thus it was empty. Victor stealthily walked towards the back of the house away from Dean. “Damn it, I am normally the one doing the chasing, think Wolfe what would one of your marks do to survive?” Victor thought to himself. An idea came to him, he was not sure how well it would work but it was all he had. He ripped a part of his cloak and set his plan into motion. Lucky for him this was one of the nicer building in Nippur, not the royal palace but not a slum.

The building had a door that lead down a steep flight of stairs. Victor allowed his blood to flow over the handle of the door and then collected some in his hand throwing it down the stairs. Pressing the button on his belt, the safety of his stealth giving him some security, he then with a sense of urgency wrapped his wounds with the ripped shreds of his cloak stopping the blood from dripping onto the floor. And took a few steps back just in time. His foe had followed the trail of blood towards the door and with his gun aimed in front of his he walked cautiously ready to shoot anyone who would dare try to attack him again. “Stop hiding you Bastard, die like a real man!” the Demon shouted to no reply. “I know demons are crude but this cretin is the one who almost killed me? I must be having a bad day” Victor smirked to himself.

Dean fell straight into the Assassins trap as he followed the blood trail towards the basement. Trying not to fall for Victor’s Stealth the Demon fired his gun down the stairs making sure the assassin was not waiting for him at any point on the descent. Once he was happy he lifted his foot ready to take the first step down, at this point Victor rushed forward hitting the demon with an elbow to the back of the head sending him rolling down the stairs.

Victor followed closely mounting the dazed Dean and proceeded to repeatedly thrust his blades into the demon's stomach and chest hoping to pierce something vital. Dean started to recover quickly from the fall though and tried to swing his dagger towards Victor who blocked with both of his own using the force to jump away into the basement. The Demon was undoubtedly strong and Victor heard a smash of glass as something hit the floor near where he landed.

It turned out that the basement was a wine cellar full of what looked to be very valuable vintages “I feel sorry for the owner, oh well in the name of Nippur this cellar and its contents have been requisitioned by the state. Compensation shall be provided so long as we survive.” Victor chuckled thinking to himself again. Dean stood up blood dripping onto the stone of the cellar” I will fucking kill you coward!” Victor threw his voice around the room, a skill he learned at a young age for situations like these.” You know, the funny thing is that you are probably right, but not because you are better than me. You see I have been in two other fights before this one and I am starting to feel it, that’s right I was not at full strength and was holding my own until your floating pink lover had to save you! I will give you one more chance let's go all out and finish this, one versus one , or are you too much of a bitch to fight your own battles?”Victor laughed.
