Because the whole concept starts with you saying you do not want to get into a forced fight. Sorting out who does and does not want to fight. It then remains painfully obvious who chooses to ignore these preferences and pursue a bounty. These actions should speak for themselves. Holding up these things higher than the rules.

How do you imagine this system actually playing out? Don't you think this would happen in chat?

Bob: Not bad you.

Sal: OOC Bounty Thread - Dude vs Sal

Bob: Wasn't Dude Red Flagged?

Guy: I thought he didn't want to fight, he's in the middle of finding the Void Entrance.


Some drama is going to happen either way when a PvP fight starts with an unwilling target. But this system suddenly puts all of that into a spotlight.

So, when we look at this, we see that PvP fights are usually a result of an agreement from both participating parties. Or, if this isn't the case, it is a result of being in a situation that you have put yourself in. Owning a base, or getting a bounty, these two circumstances put you under constant threat of unavoidable PvP, this is how it works.

Having a bounty, or owning a base are the only two circumstances in which you do not have a choice in the matter. Of course, this optional system will assist you in avoiding it for a time (if you were in a storyline that you want to finish before being hunted down), but it will not help you completely avoid it.

Also, if you go back and read the OP, there's nothing saying that flagging yourself as read means you don't want to PvP. It means that you want to be notified before you get attacked.
