"Gnh... the hell was that? They suddenly sped up?" Demexyana wondered while dodging the single black bullet, just enough for it to only scrape along her leg and leaving a mark. But that should not be too hard to handle. "Must be some trick they had up their sleeve with those... things they put into their transforming weapon." She brushed off what remained of the ice on her arm while simultaneously keeping an eye on Cuby just in time to see them disappear into nothingness. Another one of these? She closed her eyes in an effort to sniff them out. Which, as it turned out, was much more potent than what the dragoness was used to.
That your powers... Demetri?
Yes, but they reach farther than what I'm used to.
Must be our combined senses. What a weird place... anycase, I got them. Let's... She clenched her fists and prepared to go for Cuby, but Demetri stopped her.
Wait! Don't throw away our advantage. They don't know that we can sense them. We can use that.
Alexyana was about to reply when she realized she could just poke through Demetri's thoughts as they were merged, and grinned a bit. Rather than charging straight ahead as she had intended, Demexyana crouched and put a hand on the ground, using Demetri's Deception to create a clone of herself whilst simultaneously turning invisible. She sent the clone off in one direction, perpendicularly to Cuby, and moved in the other direction herself. The clone drew Cuby's attention before dispersing after some five seconds, and by the time they realized that they'd been tricked Demexyana was long gone. "What...?" their fused form whispered, too low for Demexyana to hear, but they already knew where their opponent was.
Had it been Demetri and someone lighter in this fusion, chances are they would have landed a brutal stealthed hit. But, Alexyana was a 250 kilo dragon which had transitioned to their fused form, and as much as Demetri might be versed in stealthy approaches, the footsteps of a being of Demexyana's size just were a little too much to conceal, and Cuby heard their opponent sneaking up just in time to re-draw Crescent Rose in its scythe form and block Demexyana's two claws when she brought them down for her attack. This caused both of them to break out of Stealth, becoming visible to each other again while they tried to gain the upper hand. But Cuby’s advantage was being mitigated by Demexyana being able to push down from above, so neither of them were getting anything accomplished – until Demexyana brought her tail around to slam it into Cuby’s side, but Cuby used the handle of her Crescent Rose to block that as well, though it caused them to be pushed back and break the stand-down in the process. "So you can stealth too?" She asked but when Demexyana didn’t reply she drew Lupa again and lined up a shot from close range.
Demexyana dodged the incoming fire by jumping behind the Conditioning system that Cuby had remained hidden behind until moments ago but got another few bullets passing over her leg and leaving marks, causing her to grit her teeth. How did they get so fast? Damnit… When Cuby followed around the obstacle Demexyana dodged once more, this time avoiding the shots entirely whereas Cuby was forced to reload her weapon, interrupting the fight for long enough that they had a little time to think. They had some range advantage, but it was too risky to go into melee range with how fast and powerful they were right now. But surely they couldn’t keep it up forever?
They put some item into their Scythe earlier. We could try to steal it from them, or at least make it unusable. Demetri suggested.
You got some interesting tricks up your sleeve, Demetri… I’ll give you that. Alexyana admitted and chuckled. Demexyana got ready for her next move, waiting for Cuby, and the moment that she had reloaded and came around the corner of the Conditioner Unit she flipped backwards and kicked the Glock out of their hand, sending it flying straight upwards. Turning the kick into a full backflip, Demexyana used the momentum to gain a little distance while Cuby leapt after the weapon to get back in the fight, once again entering stealth and backing away from the Unit. Perfect. But the plan wasn’t done yet… when Cuby landed and looked around in search of her opponent Demexyana lined up a shot with her chains, aiming for the Crescent Rose on Cuby’s back. That thing was what made them stronger, wasn’t it? Then she’d just have to “borrow” it.
