Rubick's eyes flicked open as he gasped for air, turgid with sweltering heat. Despite the assault from that strange energy, he seemed fine. With a slight wobble in his legs and arms, he dragged his weakened but functional body to his feet, dusting off his cowl. As he looked at himself however, he noticed that he seemed to be wearing that red shirt that the child he'd taken note of earlier was sporting. A cursory look around the fiery hellscape that he had been observing with fascination just a moment earlier informed him that the boy himself was also missing. In short, there was only one set of words that described the quandary the Magus now found himself in.
"How fucking curious..."
Rubick, now half of the newly-formed eldritch abomination Rubaite, gasped as he covered his mouth with both hands, chewing on a finger in embarrassment as he heard a far more prepubescent version of himself speak such utterly profane profanity.
”Curious.” This is just seriously just “curious” to you!? It’ll be “curious” how badly your ass gets whipped when I get my body back!
Rubick, soon realizing he was only a singular mind in a body shared by two, huffed and spluttered as he returned the insulting mental discourse with his own: Your impudence in the face of the Magus shall not go unnoticed whelp!
Awfully mighty talk for a guy mooching someone else's body! retorted the other presence within.

Rubick broke their collective silence with some more ruminations on the painfully obvious: Intriguingly enough, this goose demon seems to be advancing on our position. What should we do my angst-filled friend?

Momentarily taking control of their body, the Magus rolled Rubaite off to the side from their kneeling position, evading the brunt of an overhead slash from an exceptionally powerful sword their enemy wielded. But a searing pain soon flooded their consciousness as their right arm suffered a deep gash. Rubaite hissed as they both took a shuddering breath through their shared mouth, rolling onto their feet and readying their weapons. Rubick's staff and Adam’s lightsaber were held in a guard, weapons crossed into an X to ameliorate any follow-up their fearsome enemy might muster.
You had one job greenfuck...one job, muttered Adam as their pale face scowled at their assailant, while the blood that escaped their new wound coagulated and evaporated instantly in the searing heat. Both of the unfortunate duo were still reeling from their fusion while their opponent seemed to be perfectly unified. Though Rubick was usually never one to stress in combat, he knew that in this state they were all too vulnerable. Disorganization had dismantled the men he had fought alongside in the past; he could not afford to allow that to happen here.
His thoughts were interrupted as the half-troll half-knight slammed into the left-most crook of the guard Rubaite had held with extraordinary force. All they could do was push against the heavy-handed blow with all of their might, wrists nearly broken from the impact. In an instinctive epiphany born of their combat experience, they tilted the X to horizontally narrow the opening their enemy had with which to retrieve their sword, still firmly nestled in the collapsing corner created by their own weapons. By artificially lengthening the engagement, Rubaite eked out a short-lived moment of opportunity that they would not let go to waste.
Drawing upon Rubick’s knowledge of telekinesis, Rubaite focused their mental energies amid the discord of the two conflicting personalities, currently softened by the heat of close-quarters combat. Just as their attacker withdrew their sword from its makeshift prison, Rubaite thrust a gloved hand forward, an unyielding wave of arcane power smashing into the Troll-Knight as they flew backwards, giving Rubick and Adam some precious time to think up a strategy.
We’re clearly outmatched at that range; if can keep them at a distance, we will undoubtedly have them.
A mental chuckle followed Rubick’s observation. Finally, something we can agree upon. Leave it to me.
