Fear.
Terror streaked through the streets, shrieks of the local citizenry enticed by yet another attack. Hurried feet rushed over unevenly paved streets, eyes searching for some haven, some safety from the chaos.
If only they knew that it was their fear that brought their absolution.
Sinestro’s power-ring gleamed as yet another chain lashed out at Ganondorf, and citrine energy formed a wall just in front of his face. The humming barrier instantly dissipated as soon as it had served its purpose, though another one quickly flashed into existence to intercept a pair of magical bolts from another direction. The lantern stepped rearward into Ganondorf, the two standing back to back as a flurry of attacks snapped at them from either side, bright yellow sparks flying from the hard-light for every blow it intercepted.
“You always seem to show up, don’t you?” Ganondorf chortled, using a truly gargantuan blade to swipe away another attack.
Sinestro fanned the hammer of a hard-light revolver, sending a torrent of yellow blasts through the streets after the vexing wizard. “I have been known to meddle, if that’s what you’re implying.”
“I see you’ve gotten your…“ The gerudo king paused as a chain encircled his weapon once again. With a jerk of his powerful arms and grunt, he yanked the thief from his feet and face-first into the dirt. “… little ring?”
The wizard flourished his wand, parting his lips. “Lace-“ me managed, before an amber beam slammed into his jaw, throwing him to the ground.
“Indeed,” the dictator of Korugar replied to his partner, then turned and fell to one knee, his ring aimed at the prone Demetri. The spry warrior managed to tumble to the side as a blast of hard-light bit into the dirt where he had been laying. “I notice we’ve lost a few members on your trip here.”
“I see we’ve gained more than enough to recoup the losses,” the rightful ruler of Hyrule quipped, dismissing the blades from his hands, then snatched up the chain that had been previously entangled with them. “Now, would you mind focusing on the task at hand?”
“Certainly,” the lantern purred with a cruel smirk.
Sinestro spread his feet and held his arm out in front of himself, bracing his shoulder with the other hand. Yellow particles began to flow inward towards the ring, ambient fear being absorbed as it began to charge. Gandondorf’s muscles strained as he hefted Demetri up off of the ground with a pull, using the chains to swiftly reel him in. The thief yowled as he soared towards them, a look of shock and terror growing on his face as he realized what awaited.
The power-ring discharged with a crackling roar, broken chain links littering the sky as the thief was flung over the tiled roofs and into another street.
Quickly turning, Sinestro managed to interrupt yet another spell, a pair of golden constrictors tightly entwined themselves around Riddle’s body. With both arms hugged to his side, the mage could nothing more with his curses than spit them as he struggled, the snakes hissing in his ears. The lantern wasted no time lifting the wizard from the ground and whipping him towards the waiting gerudo, whose fists were already ablaze with unholy flame.
A horrible thud echoed into the streets, the impact shaking window panes as Ganondorf sent Tom Riddle through the air after his companion.
The faction founders nodded to each other succinctly, then turned towards the rubble that Eighteen had been buried under. “Is she alright?” Sinestro asked, almost dispassionately.
Sighing, the king crossed his arms, “I’ve put her through worse.”
“Then I suggest we reconvene with the rest of our party. I left Dean alone.” Sinestro’s ring slithered a coil of power around Ganondorf, and the two drifted from the earth. “He’s probably killed half the town by now.”
The duo rushed through the streets towards the sound of violence, blazing past the harrowed citizenry. “I had hopes of coming here for a treaty, you know,” the olive-skinned giant nagged.
A storefront exploded into shattered glass, a sharp turn running a bit wide as they flew. “If you’ll notice, I gave them the only two options that matter.”
Ganondorf scowled. “A true negotiator.”
A powerful shout followed by a brilliant line of energy heralded their arrival into the battlefield, Orion’s ki carving a swatch between a musket-wielding assassin and… an infant?
Without much question for the situation, Sinestro wound his arm back and tossed the mountain of muscle that he was towing behind him. Ganondorf sailed forward and cocked back his fist, dark flame flickering in his trail. The street splintered as he made impact, fire and debris washing out in every direction from their combined might.
A blood-soaked Dean grinned, “About time you showed up.”
