Shay Cormac felt the terrible heat emitted by the fire-breathing machine masked by his own thoughts as he dived for a wall to take cover. The Templar's body collided with the dusty floor, relieved to know he and Erik were safe for the next few seconds, before all the good in that moment was immediately sucked out by Shay's realization on how utter crap this entire experience was.
He could have barely noticed it, but in the span of 12 or so hours, this godforsaken faction he was working for had been stolen from, had it's guards killed by the numbers, had gotten it's citizens put in danger, and now it was going through it's second raid. Shay didn't know until recently, but this raid in particular wasn't just held by a few trouble-making Primes, but an entire faction.
The thought alone made Shay squirm in frustration as he got up to his feet, trying his hardest to look Erik in the eye to form some sort of plan against this freak-show of a child. Shaking his head, the Templar leaned against the rough bricks, almost tempted to look over and observe the oddity of a Prime spewing flames from his weapon as they drew closer. The thing was even laughing in the meantime, too.
Erik had to admit himself, he hadn't seen anything like this at all. Looking at how tense Shay was, Erik could tell the man was not in the greatest mood. Then again, Erik wasn't either, but in all honesty, the sight of Shay so serious had put the psychic warrior in a strange state of comfort. Of course, Erik wasn't really comfortable, considering the toddler's napalm-fueled hellfires began to seethe the ground next to him. Jumping back, Erik turned to Shay, before immediately shocked to his observation that his comrade was not standing next to him.
The psychic looked to both of his flanks, before turning back once more, only to realize Shay had already gotten half-way up the wall he was previously using as cover, the Templar jumping to the nearest windowsill. Shay stopped as Erik looked up at him expectantly, a slight tinge of worry plastered on his face.
Shay looked down, and nodded to Erik. The now dried blood caking Shay's stern, yet emotive face said everything to the psychic. Even though the beaten-up and exhausted Shay did not bother to speak through his mask, Erik heard a thousand words from the Templar, and how badly he wanted this to end.
Erik saw in the way he moved, how badly Shay's arms shook as he climbed. Erik knew he couldn't let his teammate down.
In these few short moments, Stewie's flames immediately crossed the corner, Erik jumping backwards as Shay went out of sight. Erik let out a short gasp as he looked down to find a few splotches of sticky, burning liquids scorching through his robes. The psychic almost tripped backwards as he swiped away at the flames, before it eventually died down. Erik, looking ahead as he got his footing, immediately saw the overall-clad child wielding the torturous device in his hands.
"Ha, you're like a chicken running away without a head! Have at you!" Stewie taunted, immediately raising his flamethrower at the adrenaline-rushed psychic in front of him.
Erik squinted, raising his arms in response to Stewie's movements. Pulling the trigger on his monstrous gun, Stewie watched in awe as a giant pane of glowing glass raised in front of Erik, blocking his opponent's flames. Stewie couldn't help but feel slightly amused and aggravated realizing this was but Erik's psionic energy acting before him. Truly, it was as if magic was happening before his eyes, but Stewie knew more than anybody, a magician is no more than a phony actor.
Listening to the fight beneath him, Shay could tell Erik was holding up, thankfully. The Templar's legs trembled as he stood onto the roof, his muscles ached as the horrid yet all-familiar metallic smell of blood urged him not to keep going, yet the worst of it all was the whispers in his mind seeming to scream at him to finish the fight. All of it drove Shay to the edge, quite literally, as he sprinted off the building.
Leaping with a painful groan, Stewie immediately found Shay's whereabouts, aiming upwards with his flamethrower, yet all too late. Stewie crashed onto the sandy floor, trying to claw and kick away at Shay's towering body suddenly weighing down on him.
In a fit of rage and annoyance, Stewie shouted, "Get off me, you fairy tale excuse of an assassin-"
"No," Shay spat, interrupting the child with a pure venom in his voice, "I'm a Templar, you freak."
Then, Erik watched, cringing as Shay's fist immediately came down to Stewie's face.
