Something is unclear to me and I truly apologize if this has been covered, but I couldn't find this anywhere I swear. Can a move give a temporary stat upgrade? Or would that be cheating?

The only way to increase your actual stats is with Transformations or Power-Ups.

That isn't to say you couldn't make yourself temporarily stronger in other ways that don't directly affect stats, but....that's a whole other ball game, and generally self-buffs aren't usually a go.
