Excalibur, Caliburn and the King of Knights
#4
Amaterasu's ears perked a bit when she heard someone approach, though she finished firing the five remaining beads that were floating and stopped when adressed. Again, her ears twitched a bit, pointing themselves in the other girl's direction to "catch" the sound of her words best, something that Arthuria would likely take note of. Then she turned her head towards her and eyed her curiously.

For some ten seconds, neither of them spoke a word, then the other girl lost her patience and asked: "Can you understand me?"

"Yes." Amaterasu replied after a moment. "Interestingly enough, I can, even though you are unlike most humans I have ever seen, stranger." She turned her body to face the other one again, leaving her Prayer Beads stuck in the rock or scattered around it for now. Though she appeared battle-readied, she did not seem aggressive. Had she intended to attack her, she wouldn't have announced her presence by speaking, let alone waited for so long. "I know not of the kosai-ho of your culture, but where I come from it is ill manners to speak in a battle-stance. But, given the circumstances, I suppose I can understand." She smiled brightly, placed her palms together before her chest and bowed a little to her. "I am Amaterasu, kami of the Sun. And ask yourself, warrior woman... if I was hostile, would I not have attempted to strike you down by now?" After that she stood back straight.

Though she was speaking fluently, she had some accent to her words, and Arthuria would find herself unable to understand certain individual terms - though she might be able to make them up within the context. But Amaterasu could make herself understood for the most part.

The Sun Goddess herself wondered what the stranger would do now and, while awaiting her answer, continued to examine her. Her attire, the color of her skin, dozens of details all over what was visible of her body - most prominently the shape of her eyes -, they all were different. Perhaps this woman hailed from the far western lands, which Amaterasu had only seen from the skies? Or from somewhere entirely different? In either case, it was unlikely that she was a disguised Akuma. They would pick a less conspicuous form to lure in their prey, not that of a warrior woman. And even if it turned out to be an elaborate ruse, she would be prepared. For now, perhaps this stranger knew something about this strange place - and if she didn't, there was no reason to meet her with hostility anyway.
