"You're making less and less sense with each word you sputter!" Undyne snarled as she batted a vine aside. Now armed with two short spears she had turned the fight against Flowey into a back and forth. His attacks were faster and stronger, but they couldn't pierce her armor as they had done to her arm. He was keeping Undyne on the defensive, leaving scratch damage on her armor and skin but never landing a hit that truly turned the tide in his favor. On the other hand Undyne's spears couldn't reach Flowey's vulnerable body as his vines defended him too well, and on the few instances where she saw an opening Flowey simply dodged. How a flower could be so nimble, she could not understand.
"You don't understand me! Only Chara does!"
"Asgore is living on the surface now! Everyone is! Asriel and Chara are dead! They've been dead for ages!" She flung one of her spears only to have it deflected by one of those little pellets. She summoned a new spear to her hand before Flowey could capitalize on her opening with a thorned whipstrike, and they resumed their little dance. "Frisk did not kill monsters or humans! Don't you dare compare yourself to her! And..." She leapt back from their fight to catch her breath. They both were sweating and hyperventilating after their continued combat. After a dramatic break she concluded her sentence: "... if you speak ill of Alphys again, there won't be enough left of you to fill a matchbox with when I'm done with you."
Flowey let his vines lay on the ground as he himself recovered. Some of their thorns had pieces of Undyne's scales impaled on them. "You know nothing!" he yelled back at Undyne. "Nothing about her true face! Nothing about the RESETs! She killed everyone! She murdered Papyrus! She sliced you apart! She killed Asgore! Did you know that?" He put on a dark smile. "And do you know why she did that? She did it for fun. She wanted to know what it'd be like."
Undyne's fists clenched so hard that the spearshaft in her right hand broke. She discarded the pieces which disappeared after a few seconds and summoned a new one. "You lie. Why am I alive if she supposedly killed me?"
"I told you. She RESETs. She rolled everything back. She played with forces greater than herself, thinking that she was beyond consequences did. Just like Alph- aaaargh!”
Flowey could not finish that sentence because Undyne had de-summoned her armor and rushed at him far quicker than before. While her momentum had carried her past him she’d taken a stab at his head, which he had not been able to dodge entirely. A deep slash mark opened along his right side and two of the petals lining his head fell off. Pain rushed through his body as Undyne turned around and pointed his spear at him. As she was not armored anymore Flowey could now finally see her face – and the murderous glare in her right eye. “I’ve told you to not speak ill of Alphys again.”
Flowey glared right back, and then he smiled, hiding the pain from the fresh cut. “You became friends with Frisk, right? She brought you and Alphys together, didn’t she?”
“What’s that got to do with anything?”
“Now I can see how you can be so stupidly optimistic. You don’t know ANYTHING. You live in your happy world with your girlfriend.” He shook his head, lifted one of the vines from the ground and aimed it at Undyne. “You have no idea of HER. She will not allow for monsters to live on the surface! She’ll tear you two apart. And then you’ll regret not listening to me.”
“And you’re going to make things better, right?!” Undyne replied, pointing her spear at Flowey in response to his vine. “By murdering innocents and stealing their souls?”
The flower’s fake smile vanished off its face again. “You can’t be reasoned with…” He mumbled and created another ring of pellets around Undyne that began to close in on her immediately.
“I’ve seen this before!” Undyne replied, though this time she made an effort to dodge, by jumping upwards – she was no longer wearing her armour after all. Flowey had been waiting for just that: his vine shot forward and Undyne, having no way of dodging in mid-air, blocked it with her spear. That was when he revealed the other trick he had been preparing during their little conversation: his second vine, tunnelled through the ground until it was beneath the fish-woman, lying in wait. Focused on the one she was blocking she did not see it coming until it was too late. Its thorns aimed for her head but along the way they tore into her unprotected skin, leaving deep cuts over her stomach before she was able to redirect the attack away from her chest and head with her spear. When she came back to the ground her right leg – the injured one – refused its service for a moment and Undyne stumbled, dropping onto a knee. Instead of blood, bits of white dust “dripped” from the injuries over her stomach, which was now more visible because the thorns had also cut into the bottom of her tank top. This would have been where, in an anime, she would have done a big speech while her opponent slowly, dramatically, came closer. But this was not an anime and Flowey would not give her time to recover. He lashed his vines out again and she was forced to leap back to dodge them.
“I’ve never seen you run away before”, Flowey said mockingly.
“Don’t worry. You won’t be living long enough to share that story.”
