The Golden Era
#3
"Alright prisoner, King Gilgamesh himself has summoned you to his court."

Demetri narrowed his eyes. The familiar feeling of suspicion and dread filled his body. The scene before him played out just as it did on that one horrible day when he was last summoned to the court by a king. He slowly lifted himself off the floor and put forth his hands so that the guards could shackle him. Enough time had passed so that the thief's wounds had healed, and that his bones had mended themselves back together. Now that he was healthy, he had no qualms about being binded with these simple chains. Perhaps he could take a few souvenirs along his way.

"Move along, we shall not keep the King waiting."

Damn kings and their supposed valuable time. Demetri scanned the halls and room as the two guards escorted him through to the court, keeping a mental map of the place. Once the endless array of halls began to bore him, he decided to test himself. Although there wasn't a chance that he would escape from here without any weapons or tools, he figured he would see what he could pocket. Demetri made sure to take his time walking as he summoned a tiny lock-pick, taking care as to not let any guards witness his action. The thief loosened his chains, giving him enough slack to move more freely.

With a smirk, the thief used his deception, slinking back while he image walked along, using his deft fingers to fiddle with the guards' pockets. Unfortunately, he came up with nothing but a few gold coins and some pocket lint. Such a shame.

Giving no sense of suspicion, the thief pocketed his loot and quickly resumed him position between the guards. The thief mumbled along, bored and anxious before they came upon the large decorated doors to the court. The thief rolled his eyes as the guards pushed him forwards. It seemed none of these fools were going to accompany him, as if the King could handle the thief all by himself. Behind the doors he could feel the King's presence. The power behind it was equal, if not greater, than his own. The King was a prime as well. Fitting.

The guards let loose the chains and watched the thief approach the large doors. With a gentle push, they swung open, a slow creak as the hinges turned and held their weight. The thief approached the golden haired man before him.

"And what may I do for you today, your Majesty?," the thief announced in a mocking tone.
All warfare is based on deception.
