In regards to the talk of NPC's and secondary's: My character has a spirit that resides with him, can't go more than a few feet from his location, sees what he see's ect...would that count for anything or would I be free for said character to stay with them since they are only their for giving a bit of flavor to the character and later might become an assist when I can buy it.

If it's an autonomous entity, it's a secondary.

You may choose to make it an Assist (thus allowing it to aid you/fight with you in combat) later on if you so desire
