Nah, if i dont have the proficiencies the item i take is close to useless, a shield will break through, a sword will shatter, stuff like that. If i had mimic then i could just copy moves, but then i wouldnt be stealing now would i? mug:

Functionally, it kinda does work like Mimic (but you "remove" their move as well). However, this might be a gimmick case like telepathy having "homing" traits, despite homing prof isn't necessary for it.

Mimic doesn't inhibit the person that the move is copied from, it simply allows you to copy the move verbatim, although its effectiveness depends on your stats. Demetri's move requires proficiencies. In addition, Demetri can only take physical items. There is a lot of difference between Mimic and this move, although they do seem similar.
