Omniverse, Hokori Owari Hoshi: Day 001
Dust found himself in the mist of black shadows, with no light. It embraced him, but he wasn’t all that sure.. By the nature of his world he was not surprised nor feared the dark, but he was allowed to distrust something. He realized now, he was no longer on his hands and knees in the deep snow, a shot up body bleeding out in front of him. He was not in danger, nor was he being chased. His heart was finally calm, but his mind was racing to try to understand what had happened.
And finally he was very aware of not being as alone as he originally believe to be. Wolf went to say something only to find he had no voice. He screamed, but to no avail. His voice went unheard. But instead another.
Hokori looked up and over at where the voice was coming from, just barely making out a figure in the endless darkness. It's most obvious feature was the smile that seemed to hang in thin air like that of Alice's Cheshire Cat, and it talked like him as well. In riddles that slowly started to make sense. Specifically to a man who's used to quickly consuming information and making logical decisions about it. Who was trained to observe and connect the dots quickly..
As the Cheshire Cat Omni continued to explain things, something akin to imagination started creating pictures in his head. He was not used to this... As he was a killer, not a thinker. The most imaginative things he's done were how to get to his prey faster or without being seen until it was unavoidable. His brain was full of schematics, battle formations, combat stances, crowd control options, and the ever present calculator he used to decide if the risk was worth the action.
To have ideas of what to make this Omnilium whatever he liked, was foreign to him now. Despite how at one time he had a vivid imagination.. Once upon a time, he was a boy with a life, and dreams, and hope. Now he was a monster in people's eyes. How could a beast have imagination? How could a wolf get creative beyond how to kill?
His grey eyes looked up, and the man was gone..
So was the darkness, replaced by an endless amount of white that somehow didn't burn his eyes after such darkness. And he was standing, instead of on his knees like the dog Drake thought him to be. He was ankle deep in a pool of water, just on the bank. It glimmered as if it was under a summer sun, and lapped at the bank as if there were a nice breeze. But he was immune to this, it would appear, as he did not feel either. What he did feel was.. Curiosity.
Which was strange. Not that he never felt any feelings at all, just that they were never strong enough to matter. But he was really curious now. So much so, that he leaned down and splashed the water a bit that lapped at his ankles. Which brought him a small amount of joy, which was still much more than he was used to, so much that he even smiled at how wonderful it felt. How amazing it looked. Like a child just seeing the beach the first time!
He snapped out of it, and was brought back to an emotion he remembered as fear. Fear that something had happened. Something horribly wrong. He pulled away from the water, backed away from it, so fast and in such a rush that when he hit the smooth plane of The Nexus' floor, he tripped backwards and landed harshly on his elbows. He scrambled further back, ignoring the bruising pain that he gained upon impact and fought to get away from the strange pool.
Only to smack into an easily forgettable faced girl who looked back at him with judging eyes, stuck up her nose, and pranced away with her butt wiggling about in a costume dress.
Dust was thrown into embarrassment at first, flushed because of the look he got from her, and then his cheeks were red because he was obviously staring at the woman's butt. Which only drew out the emotion of intense confusion. And pretty soon he was swarming with all kinds of feelings he'd forgotten a man was capable of having!
"W-What's going on?" He asked, freaking out just a bit. Climbing to his feet, panting like a trapped animal. He would love a wall to lean on by now, but he had to support his own weight on his too shaky legs. Which were bare, up to the calves. So was his upper body, straight down to his defined hips. He had on nothing but the pair of thermal shorts he had upon his extraction of his world. He was comforted by the fact that he was still modest, but also noticed the serious lack of bandaging he had on before. There was no pain in his foot where it had been as well. He still had his scars, and new ones even. But it would seem that all was well and dandy..
WELL AND DANDY!? THIS IS NOT WELL, NOR IS IT DANDY!!
He rushed over to the pool again, stumbling a bit as he did, and even slipping in a puddle he'd made as he fell forward and to the ground once more. This time his hands landed into the pool and ice cold water splashed all over his handsome face. However, he took a good gulp of it as well, and stood on his hands and knees, coughing it up again.
This triggered a memory.. And he could hear Drake clear as day urging him to get up. He ventured back in time.. What only happened minutes ago suddenly felt like a lifetime ago, as he remembered being like this at the other contractor's side.
'Make a wish, and pray for me.' The distant voice repeated..
Dust looked down at his at his own scared face, his grey eyes dots in the vast nothingness of his sclera. He was suddenly aware of his trembling.. Not because he was cold, but because the matter of the fact was raining hail down on him. "D-Drake.." The Vampire contractor and The Lycan contractor had seemed to be destined to fight each other like cats and dogs.. But in reality.. They had both been very human. And no amount of shared blood could have saved him.
He began to cry.. Tears welled up into his eyes and fell into the pool, adding to its water level little by little. He sniffed back his snot, and coughed up another sob. And as he cried for the first time in how many years.. He could only half understand why.. He knew it was for Drake. But he didn't know why. Drake had no respect for him, calling Dusty 'Pup' instead of anything else in his portfolio. And still. He felt like he was going to be the only person in existence that was going to morn that son of a bitch...
In that instance, the pool rippled, and he saw a falling star. Wolf stiffened up with hope, and then closed his eyes tightly and whispered his wish three times. "Freedom, Freedom, Freedom.."
Dust found himself in the mist of black shadows, with no light. It embraced him, but he wasn’t all that sure.. Quote:“My name is Omni. This is not the world you know. This is the Omniverse. You interest me, so I have made you part of it. The Omniverse is a place that reflects the wishes of those who are part of it. But! There are rules. I will explain them only once, so listen carefully.”
Quote:Omni hands you a glimmering orb in which all the colors of the rainbow coalesce. “This is Omnilium. It’s what ties the Omniverse together. Without it, you are nothing. With it, anything you desire can be yours. But you will need more than this. If you desire it enough, you will find it. You will find that using it comes naturally. Just think of what you desire most.
“You will not be alone in the Omniverse. There are others. Of course, they, too desire Omnilium. Do not fear death. For as long as you interest me, you will be reborn.
“That’s all you need to know right now. You’ll figure out the rest soon enough. I’ll be watching … and waiting.”
As the Cheshire Cat Omni continued to explain things, something akin to imagination started creating pictures in his head. He was not used to this... As he was a killer, not a thinker. The most imaginative things he's done were how to get to his prey faster or without being seen until it was unavoidable.
