Methodical and meticulous, the heroine kept her opponent at bay, firing a succession of gilded, proton blasts. The swordsmen’s vigor waned under siege of Ms. Marvel’s onslaught, as screaming beams of ill intent tore through the air; Yu Kanda narrowly escaping one, only to succumb to another. Void of foolish sentiments, such as sportsmanship, her tactics barely permitted the swordsman a moment’s breathe, let alone the time for a proper counter strike. Her military background guided her actions with a swift, yet firm hand, and the result? Hell descended upon Yu Kanda in the form of a relentless, golden furry.
When the smoke subsided, an eerie silence befell the stadium, as attendants edged forward in their seats, eager to stifle their anticipation, and be the first to witness the aftermath. The feminine silhouette of Carol Danvers pierced the veil of smolder; her words following after, “My fight isn’t with you! This is over, don’t make me kill you.”
Kanda, down on one knee, spat crimson and steadied himself with the aid of his sword, before responding in a hoarse, defeated voice, “I’m… an exorcist… I slay—”
“Demons?” she interrupted, seemingly uninterested, as she had found and began reapplying her mask, “Listen, I don’t like demons any more than you do. In fact, I hate demons, like, ew, creepy! ...And honestly, I don’t much like the idea of killing the guy whose job it is to kill them. Sounds like you are doing these people a great service, and I don’t want to get in the way of that.”
The swordsman struggled in his movements for a moment before tightening the grip he held on his blade.
Sorrow overtook Marvel’s expression as she bit upon her bottom lip, then pleaded with the swordsman once more, “Oh, c’mon! It doesn’t have to be this way! We’re on the same side! Damn it!”
A smile crept up upon his pale visage, as he raised his weapon, extending it in the direction of his opponent. Ms. Marvel allowed herself another grimace, but soon after, prepared herself for what she must do… and then it happened.
Yu Kanda discarded his weapon, allowing it to clang upon the ground next to him. Dark ebony eyes fell upon his triumphant adversary, showing the gravity of his words, “Okay… But… You better not be lying about hating demons…” and with that, Yu Kanda allowed the darkness to overtake his consciousness, and his body to finally give out from under him, falling backwards into a deep slumber.
Something between a giggle and a chuckle escaped Carol’s mouth, while the crowd erupted in applause, and she secured her passage to the second round. The beauty took to air, flashing radiant smiles, blowing kisses, and throwing up peace signs to the adoring crowd below. If things kept going like this, it would only be a matter of time before she returned to her own world.
Or so she thought….
