That's basically why I gave the example of 'range' and said that at lower intensities it could cause bruising, et cetera. Perhaps with multiple hits it can build up and cause that same rotting effect. Right now you basically have a move that can cause anything/anyone to rot regardless of their DEF. A centimetre might not seem like much but you can rapid fire it. And that's on the lower scale on stat comparison, so I'd hate to see what it can do if you're stronger than someone or on the same level.
I'm open to suggestions on drawbacks and just to make it plain I've never seen anyone really draw up an atk vs def chart. I was trying to avoid that. Though currently I did mention that higher defense suffer less pronounced rot its there if you want to check it, IE the injury isn't as bad even if the spell effects the same area.
Quote:The severity of the rotting depends significantly on the target’s DEF, though the minimum effect remains the spreading of one centimeter, it may increase with the difference of that of a lower DEF compared to the Caster’s ATK. While higher DEF results in a less pronounced rotting, the minimum remains the same.I wanted to avoid splitting hairs on depth even if I don't get nearly as much effect.
But here since were on the topic now, possible solution regarding to replace what I currently have mentioned to this:
Simple A: The higher the target's DEF the less penetration there is.
Simple B: The higher the target's DEF the less the rot and less penetration there is.
Moderate A: For each point of DEF above the user's ATK the depth of rot is halved.
Moderate B: For each point of DEF above the user's ATK the depth of rot is halved and the severity lessened.
Complex A: For each point of DEF above the user's ATK the degree of rot afflicted lessens. This spectrum ranges from completely rotted and pus soaked, to boils, inflamed skin and wounds, to reddening blisters, bleeding cracks, to simply an infected wound, to nothing.
Complex B: For each point of DEF above the user's ATK the degree of rot afflicted lessens, as does the depth by half. This spectrum ranges from completely rotted and pus soaked to, boils, inflamed skin and wounds, to reddening blisters, bleeding cracks, to simply and infected wound, to nothing.
Edit: If you follow the track on Complex A/B essentially after 4 points of higher DEF my spell does absolutely nothing.
But if you mean that I lower the whole rotting effect as a whole I'm not sure where to even start on that. How would a charged or verbalized effect hit compared to me weak ones? Something like that?
