Thundering sounds of the fighters colliding and exchanging blows rang throughout the Coliseum, as the skill in which they demonstrated was inhuman. The noise of the crowd swelled as a sea of shifting colors raised their flags and signs to represent their historical alignment.
Yu Kanda was an undiscernible blur of color, when motivated, and he used this to his advantage, combing the battle field, and only halting for the vicious bite of his blade; a bite Carol Danver’s was becoming all too familiar with.
Kanda's moves were unlike anything Ms. Marvel had seen in the Omniverse. Quick, abrupt, precise, with minimal wasted motion.
Cobalt energy surrounded Yu Kanda as he played his ace in the hole, sending Ms. Marvel, like a star banished from the heavens, into one of the many stone ramparts that aligned the Coliseum.
The Avenger grasped for air as she tried to stifle her body’s alerts, but the agony ensued in spite of her efforts. She shifted her weight, experiencing a jolt in her spine that rang the alarm bells of her subconscious.
She could hear footsteps approaching and again she attempted to move, but to no avail, fire and ice riddled her nervous system.
“NO!” the voice within her screamed; debilitating.
A groan escaped Carol’s lips as she refused to give in to her body’s pleas, trying desperately to right herself; futile.
Something was wrong and drastically so. She had been in a great many battles, but never had she been dispatched so easily, thanks in part, to her Kree charged genetics.
“Omni…” she breathed as the realization hit her. She had obviously been robbed of her former prowess and ability, and that white, smiling bastard was the one to blame!
However, before she was able to turn her anger into motivation, Yu Kanda surprised her with what he did next.
Kanda approached slowly, leaning on his no longer activated katana in order to keep standing. He looked down upon her," Your willpower is unyielding, I'm sorry, but, I will have to break it, and reveal whatever it is you felt necessary to hide."
Devious, albeit cunning, the swordsmen dipped his toe, testing the proverbial waters of his opponent’s psyche as, with a flick of his wrist, he removed the heroine’s guise.
There was a collective gasp that erupted from within the arena, as a lifetime passed within the moment. Ms. Marvel heard only the soft whisper of the wind running its fingers through her sunflower hair as the crowd was, for once, painstakingly quiet.
Carol's sky-blue eyes shined like diamonds against the dirty colosseum floor, her delicate blonde hair whipping across her now, naked, brow.
Carol finally found the strength to stand, “I don’t wear that to hide from something, you arrogant fool!” the beauty snarled with contempt before taking to the air once more, “Humph, I wear it to remind me of something!” and like that she was off like a rocket, shooting towards her opponent with a righteous fury. Kanda raised their sword to defend.
Bright gilded flames of pure energy separated steal from flesh as Ms. Marvel parried a succession of strikes from Yu Kand’s blade and, in turn, delivered her own barrage of strikes.
The struggle for position continued a moment longer before an advantage was claimed, sending Ms. Marvel to the dirt once more, courtesy of the hilt of his blade.
Endless White overrode her vision as her limbs failed her and went limp. Her vision grew dark as her body collapsed from under herself, onto her knees, before finally finding herself face first in the dirt.
“I wear it, because he wore it…. And he was the best man I ever knew! Even if he wasn’t a man!” she spoke as she regained her feet.
“I wear it… Because where I am from… That’s what heroes do… And if I die being a hero, well, hell, that’s good enough for me… Now… GET OUT OF MY WAY!” roared the avenger as she began gathering her marvelous energy for one last hurrah. This would either win her the fight, or kill her, either way, she was proud to be a hero.
