Through the sea of sand (Open)
#2
It was always the same, out here in the Dunes.... Their "Endless" descriptor was certainly accurate. As far as the eye could see, nothing but sand, sand, and more...well, sand. There were the occasional trees sparsely dotted around the areas nearest the Nexus gate...it rained there, every now and then at the least. But generally speaking, outside of the few settlements, the Endless Dunes were not a pleasant place to be. And travel in them was not easy.

Both hands firmly locked around the steering levers of his personal mode of transport, seated as comfortably as he could in be in the shade of the sail propelling the sand yacht, courtesy of the specific time of day, Erik Whitman, ever-present smile locked onto his features, made his way across the sands. His intention was to head for the gate back to the Nexus, as he had a lovely engagement to check in on in Camelot.

He rained back on the speed of his craft as he neared the gate, having spotted someone emerging from it. "Oh ho ho, oh my, oh look, a new arrival, could it be?" His smile grew more pronounced and genuine as he swung his course back around, standing up from his seated posture. "Ahaha, ahoy there, my sand-bound friend!" he called out as he grew near, pulling back on the sail to turn it parallel to the wind and bring his yacht to a halt.

"I dearly hope I'm not interrupting you in any way!" he added, flexing his fingers after so long at the controls. "But if I might ask, might you be a new arrival to this wonderful Omniverse of ours? And where might you be going, in this most inhospitable of verses?" He brought one hand over his mouth, and stifled a chuckle. "Ah, forgive me...that might be rude to ask after just meeting someone, hmm?"
