Behind the Curtains (New Babylon)

It had been a long day and although he could sense the sombre feelings of his companions Victor was content with how the mission had went, after all it was none of their faults that the hired help was not good at their job. Other than that small problem everything had gone according to his plan, Shay's knowledge of assassination techniques was almost on par with his own and the girl, Agnès, had manged to overcome her morals for a greater cause. It was progress and made Victor think of what he could have her do next to slowly mould her into a better ally. The thought quickly left his mind as he parked up the vehicle to some cheers and some suspicious looks from the many residents of Nippur, the city that he now called his home.

He walked over to some of the guards deciding that he would give them something important to do rather than guarding a town square "I bring a gift for the king, its supplies and weapons stolen straight from those empire dogs, at the orders of the king of course. Now I need to go and report this to someone so I want both of you to guard it and if you do a good job I might put a good word in for you both and see about getting you outfitted with the new weapons I brought back" Victor said with a smile. "Yes sir!" the two guards responded before moving towards the truck with one guarding the back and the other guarding the front. “It feels good to finally get some respect in this world, I wonder if I can become the most feared assassin in this world too" Victor thought to himself.

Snapping out of his own thoughts he looked over to see Agnès and Shay leaving obviously shaken from what had happened out their Victor decided to shout some words of encouragement to them " Don't worry about the mercenary I am sure he will be back, death is a natural part of this world and the sooner you accept it the easier it gets, I know all about dealing with people dying around me, kind of an expert on the subject!" Victor shouted to the other two not sure if either of them heard it. He decided to let them sort it out on their own and get some rest turning his attention towards more important matters, mainly handing over the good news to the King so that he may prove his loyalty further and put in a good word for his probably now resting allies.

He headed towards the castle looking forward to reporting in and then hopefully getting some rest and relaxation.
