Destination: Desperation

With the sudden change from casualness to a passive, apathetic attitude that seemed to slice right back into Jaixe’s sharp tongue, Jaixe raised a slight eyebrow at the transition, but didn’t comment. Though when she switched to her comm device, Jaixe smirked just slightly, to the point that it would be difficult to notice. Just a new prime after all. Observant, impertinent, rash… Confident, at least. I wonder if she will be worth my time. At the very least, she’s not some mindless nuisance.

“You place plenty of confidence in your abilities, I wonder how true they are. As for assuming I should live in a life of luxury, you are mistaken.” Jaixe replied, apparently somehow conjuring more patience for the conversation in an instant. Though, he didn’t go into the reasons why she was mistaken about her assumptions. “As for what my goal is, perhaps you should speak first.” Jaixe was not so foolish as to reveal his intentions simply by one questioning about them, let alone to a stranger that would so readily attach herself to a passerby.

Whatever this woman was, he at least identified that she was, above all, curious. She was of the questioning sort, though rarely voiced it. Still, he wondered why he even cared enough to make such an observation, and truly, it didn’t do much harm to let her follow. The mob bosses down here were pathetic, after all, and even if she were trailing unwelcome company, with so little security down here, eliminating them would attract no undue attention from the Empire.

“If you are so willing to follow me, then you may. I have little time to keep answering the continual stream of questions from a new Prime, though you might be of some use.” Jaixe spoke, as if uncaring to listen to the woman’s answer to his previous question. He seemed confident that she wasn’t a threat in the least, and as he turned back onto the dirty walkway with litter strewn about wildly, tossed around by the wind of passing cars, he continued without another word. He did observe his surroundings, however, and quite often stopped to gaze at the simple, if not rusted steel buildings and antiquated architecture around him. The steel pipes that flowed in every which direction, the signs that were, often times, malfunctioning, and the odor. What really stood out about this place was its terrible smell, a rancidness and smog that seemed to come from yet further down, from a lower tier.
