My Dream's Descent
#3
It had been nearly a couple of hours, spent walking nonstop over an absurdly flat landscape, before he could even make out what he was heading towards. In truth, he had picked a random direction, hoping it would lead to something, and that was appearing to be a correct choice. Now, after restlessly staring into the sea of blankness, he could at least gaze upon something that stood distinct from the rest and offered him some form of comfort from becoming crazed.

Some time passed before he could see the figures guarding the gate. It was difficult to even discern them, those white-armored guards on either side of the archway. They blended into their surroundings so perfectly, it almost seemed as if it were intentionally so to Jaixe. It wasn’t until he got closer that he noticed the discrepancies and could make out the soldiers more clearly. They were odd to him, at first glance. He’d seen many guards before, but not armored with what appeared to be opaque plastic and rather intriguingly designed guns that seemed similar to projectile weapons, but held few of the key similarities of such.

They seemed to be guarding an immensely large archway of unusually smooth, interconnected steel plates. Though Jaixe would be the first to call it mundane, in these circumstances, it almost seemed to be a bastion of color and uniqueness compared to the never-ending white abyss that surrounded him. He was almost driven mad to the point that this discovery excited him and he wanted to sprint towards it, shouting happily as he went like some deranged madman.

Of course he wasn’t quite that far gone.

He continued walking toward the archway at the same pace he had been trekking through the emptiness. Jaixe assumed that it was a gateway of some sort, or a portal. He couldn’t imagine two guards living here, guarding a useless structure with nobody else around. This was also supported by the fact that he hadn’t seen a single soul since he arrived. However, given this Omni’s character, that might be the wrong assumption to make about this world and he might very well be stuck here due to a god's deranged sense of humor.

Whatever the case, he could at least get answers from these plastic-wearing soldiers if this wasn’t his means out of this white hell. “Though if it isn’t, I may just drown myself at that fountain…” He thought aloud with a droll voice and somewhat depressed expression at the thought that he’d quite possibly be stuck here for a very long time.

Though if he had to walk everywhere for the rest of his existence even past that gate, Jaixe was going to be deeply grateful he couldn't feel exhaustion and soreness the same way others would.
