Not even the soft sound of chirping crickets rattled through the stagnant air.
Thick, heavy breaths poured in to align with the steady beating within her chest. Drums. Christa followed the sound, only to find that the roaring blasts could only be heard in her own eardrums. Blood ran through her in contained streams, flooding her body and rushing oxygen to her deprived muscles at an impossible pace. Rapid, and fueled by the flutters of fear.
It was dark. She was alone. Shapes and shadows all blurred together with the shifting movement when she prompted her feet to carry on. Faint and beckoning laughter drifted in on wind that never whispered over her skin. Occasionally, the woman would glance past her shoulder, trying to find its source, only to have the scratchy, supernatural sounds lead her closer... closer... closer... to its origin.
Crack!
Finally, with the crushing of a twig, Christa only now noticed that the murky swamp water no longer squeaked beneath her toes. The whites of her eyes flashed up as she swirled around with her pistol at the ready to greet the sound, assuming it was her worst fears coming to life.
Instead of meeting a reaper of death, Christa withheld her finger from the trigger as the person revealed themselves, still donned in shadows. Slowly, stress unwound her cramping index from the metallic trip.
“Klaud?” Her own voice wavered, sounding hesitant and nothing like herself.
Klaud shivered in her arms as Christa tossed down her sights and welcomed a painful hug. Both friends -never so sentimental perhaps in their entire lives- welcomed the presence of one another.
“Are you alright?” Christa asked Klaud, before swiftly turning around, alerted by more sounds of broken twigs in the same shadowed darkness.
Mud-covered allies crept together to form a circle around the united Klaud and Christa, who had parted their warm embrace, but remained close to one another. Klaud didn’t utter a word, for a shaken expression spoke on her features where the never-formed words had failed.
Meanwhile, Christa replaced her reassured expression that a friend had made it, with one of determination to inspire the group of survivors. The leader's grip on the Beretta grew with her frenzied eyes suddenly narrowed as she skimmed over the group whose faces were nearly hidden by the moonless night.
Those who now remained:
A hunter, deadly, cunning, and ever-manipulative.
A scientist, maddened by the change of time, and driven by his own thirst for knowledge.
A robot, top tier, who has recorded it all and spread the hardships of their journey to the world.
A wooden boy, whose nose extended, but his curiosity never failed.
A Pegasus, new-found chef, and brave soul.
A general, a woman, a fierce opponent and a friend.
A pirate captain, hearty and adventurous, lost in a sea of green.
A soldier of the Empire, a smoker, a rival and a friend.
A traitor, the goblin, who had waged war again and again. Probably still spiteful about that spider.
A young elf, wielding arrows, compassion, and one who soothes any and all doubt.
A man, master of blood and wisdom.
All lead here to this exact place amid the mass chaos of the endless forest. And little did Christa know, she herself, considered them all to be friends.

Quote: Congratulations to all those who have made it this far, and Welcome to phase six!
Phase six will last a little under a week, but it will also be split into two parts.
The first part will be everyone catching up, and the second part... Well, I won’t spoil what is in store.
notes for this phase:
*Your character was lead to this part by either themselves, or Ghost girl (Christa was lead by ghost girl, it is just enticingly vague)*
*Optional: You too, can do a run-down list of what the survivors mean to your character. I included it because I thought it would be cool (for you) to see how Christa may perceive them. Plus, I personally find it says a lot between the lines.
The deadline is the ninth- *with no exceptions!* (September 9th!) There are a few reasons I made this the longest phase:
1. This will be a hard phase. Plain and simple. But as long as you interact at your best, I think everyone could do really well.
2. It's going to be split down the middle. This means part 1 will be recovering from the swamp and everyone's sacrifices, as well as realigning to complete their mission. Part 2 pretty much speaks for itself.
3. It's the finale, meaning I would rather have good quality and not rush. You all worked hard and were very committed, and that in itself should be rewarded. Plus I think it's just a morale booster (like, oh Gildarts can see that more time = more time for me to compose my best writing ever ;) ). Let me know if you have any questions, you all are amazing, keep it up!
Lastly. Exemplary bonuses will be delivered via PM. And the expectations for this round are still competitive, but no idea is out of the question. Have fun this phase, enjoy interacting with the other secondaries, and of course guessing the mysteries of Omni!
Happy Writing!
-Gildarts
