Flickering patches of light flashed in front of those still standing in the muck.
Mud. Pulpy, sludgy, disgusting mud, it covered them all, head to toe.
Those who were once together, had become separated. And those who were once standing, had fallen to a knee, or had plunged deeper into the swallowing depths of sorrow.
It was a slippery slope and Isaac’s eyes dimmed with ernest grief as the soles of his shoes stuck to the ground. Despair didn’t dwell long, as within him, the willpower of his goal swelled within him.
And another, as Christa’s slow sinking began to be released by the monstrous sinkhole that was this damned place. As the muck sucked her in, she couldn’t help to think that some people felt sorrow in the place of fear, sorrow of regret. However, she noticed she felt nothing, except a simple kiss of relief.
And another, as Lyra’s tune carried on the air with melancholy notes as the female elf remembered all she knew, deciding that nothing was worth forgetting.
Raw Onion, Grobdum, and Abner both braved past the reeking slime, as they were showered in brushmarks of clay that marked their face in patterns of war.
Top-Man, Klaud, Clayton, and Crow, while all separate, were delivered from the slow sinking that would surely have meant their end.
Richtofen and Pinocchio both survive, gasping for breath as at the very last second, the air touched their lips and each drank in the sweet, musky air, as though it were warm honey on their lungs.
Those who remained sinking, their titanic impact imprinted on those who stood in the stilled mud, while across the fog, traversing the swamps and desolate land, were those who fell to the war waged by swamp.
A nephilim, who had journeyed with a fellow vampire friend and put all the world’s effort into the passionate empathy he felt for his friends.
A soldier, dedicated to his work, loved ones, and lost sorrows.
An undead man who would not live again, plunged into the sorrowful waters and drowned beneath the still waters and silent waves.
The man working to free an entire solar system.
And the robot who acted on more curiosity than man.
All were the fallen, those who had given their lives, only to have them taken by the Swamp of Sadness.
