The hours were left to pass, not a single thought dedicated to counting.
Every pat against the floor echoed with the rattling of a harness, swinging with empty rectangular pouches. The harness pressed against the dark hues of blue scattered across cloth in a pattern. The soldier stuck out in against the white background, her steps barely delicate with her leg quickly lifting to land her next step. Without a doubt, even from a distance, she was nowhere near human unlike those who stood at two seperate gates within this verse. For Kalli, it was impossible to feel welcomed, her thoughts walled off with question after question while marching along to one of the gates. Only guessing there to be a answer through one, or from the mere visuals alone. But, instead of marching on through, her legs dared not to move further as her head took one glance up and down over the gate ahead of her.
She could not gather a conclusion, not a single guess on what such thing was made out of, or who put it here, or even how it shared a resemblance to the fountain behind her. Baffled, the woman would proceed to walk forward once more, with delicate claws tapping the white floor as she approached the portal itself, as if approaching a beast easily disturbed. As she came ever so closer, her hand light tapped the portal's surface, her arm stretched out as if distance would protect her from whatever punishment would conclude from disturbing the mysterious 'gate'. Seconds passed as her eyes remained still, looking into the portal with both fear and intrigue. Nothing had happened.
And then there was pain. A sharp, burning touch had hit her claws and palm, with a gasp she retracted her claw and looked over it in a panic. Her eyes darted up and down, looking at the portal then down at her clawed hand, in fear of having cursed herself already. But once more, she was jumping to conclusions in her thoughts, believing something horrible to have happened when, in reality, her claws had laid their long, sharp tips on the gate to the Ashen Steppes, Looking around rather worrisome, she quickly began to move once more, curiously looking back at the gate as she move wherever else took her fancy.
