Email from Martha to Christa
Dearest Christa,
Only out of the kindness of your heart did you seek out his foreboding fate. We had feared the worst when he had disappeared, and I will tell my children in the best way I can. I thank you for all that you have done, for what you have risked your life for, and can only say that this picture means so much to me.
It was a photo taken a year ago. I thought we had lost it in the fire... My family, we were happy, on the beach with our two daughters.
I remember the day like it was the last, the warmth of the sun and the thick froth of ocean waves. We were on vacation in Costa del Sol, when that was taken, it was one of the last times I ever saw him truly happy before he was transferred from his work to Coruscant. He was never the same after that, I can only blame myself for when he left. And for so long, I followed his daily ritual to honor him. Down to his very mug of coffee. Now it may seem stupid, but such is love when it is blind I suppose. When you forget reason and just want to live in the presence of that person. It was hard to find hope when I lost him too. It has returned to me in the form of this picture and I can't say thank you enough.
I don't mean to trouble you with our story, I simply miss him. I appreciate all the integrity you have brought to his death. And I thank you for burying him. Someday, perhaps I can hope you may take me to the place where he rests. But it is comforting he did not die alone, and that he was found by someone who knew his name and recognized his face.
He will live on in my memories forever, as will your sister, I hope you find what you seek, as you have helped me find closure, and once again restored my hope.
Sincerely,
Martha Tennant
