Into Dante's Inferno
#3
What happens when a dragon fish and the marine on its back tries to plow through the thick walls of an Empire super prison at high speeds? It was not as clean as I would have hoped, not was I unscathed on the way in. I knew it was a gamble from the start, but I was already riding the lightning and it was too late to get off. As the beast speed towards the heavily reinforced obstacle, it turn its head at the last second in an attempt to try to dodge, but at the speed we were at it only just switched a heads on collision with a shoulder tackle. A thunderous crash pulverized the mortar, tore re-bar beams, and reduced the man sized concrete blocks at the center of the hit to rubble. It was a hole barely big enough for me to fit through, but the pressure of the many leagues under the surface did the rest. Water forced its self through at the bars were torn from their place as if they were little more than toys.

"That's my cue" and I let go of my ride to be pulled in by the rapid current of water that forced it's way into the prison walls. The wyvern snapped at me, but I was already out of its reach after its momentum bounced it off the wall. I tumbled through the current, light inside told me that I had broken through but there became a serious complication as I felt a searing pain rip through my leg. A piece of rebar had torn my evo suit and ran a deep cut across me that went from my knee to my side. Water rushed into my suit and blood was pushed out, a frigid chill gripped me as the suit started to fill up. I reached down to try and clamp the hole to save it, but I slammed into the floor off the room I had entered.

I was inside Impel Down. And it was fucking cold.

I grabbed onto the chest of the rubber suit and torn it asunder with a pull, water than has spilled into it gushed out onto the floor. I was left in just my pants and shirt, my actual armor stuck in the bag over my shoulders, and inside what looks liked the world's largest walk in freezer. I felt my skin shiver under the sub zero temperatures and flakes of water that still covered my skin freeze, but this wasn't exactly the best place to change while the hole I came in through grew bigger and water still forced it's way in and alarms started to blare. Sections of the floor opened up like hanger doors, and form them spindly robotic arms, large square plates of unknown material hoisted up from somewhere deeper beneath me and moved into place to try and plug the opening and trap the water. with me along with it.

I rushed ahead, ducked under the careless machines as they continued their work, and kept on the run as more and more plates we put into place. The thicker walls previously several yards away enclosed on me, they slide on the ground as if run on invisible rails. Although the cold tried to steal my breath with each bound towards safety, I juked between the closing walls, nearly avoided being crushed between the concrete and mortar, and made it into a relatively safe spot with the grinding machinery behind me.

Alone and about to freeze my ass off, I opened the bag on my back, bits of armor spilled out onto the floor and clattered into a neat pile. Each piece was put on with a remembered grace, years of wearing this armor allowed a superhuman speed as I requirement it and build myself back up to the true form of a space marine. Once I was down to only my helmet left, I looked into the visor from the ouside, a small smile crept on my face as I it was as striking and powerful as always, and then placed it over my head where it belonged. Systems rebooted, my HUD light up and feed me all the information needed, and the build in heating flared up and kept me a a room temperature comfortable and away from a disappointing death at the hands of hypothermia.

"Now I just need a weapon" I told myself as I already started to collect the omnilium, my mind focused on the image of my shotgun, when I heard footsteps to my side. I glanced over to see two men, each in the ragged and torn remains of what I assumed were the prison's uniform, and the one in the front with a zip gun pointed at me. I glanced down at it, then back to the man, and gave him a sadistic grin hidden behind my helmet.

"You're joking, right?"
