A totally hypothetical philisophical question

Though I am still interested in the general question, this specific situation is in regards to when someone is attracted to someone else.

Oh. Well I guess certainly take it as a compliment, but I can see getting annoyed. I say dark things and my friends will think I'm kidding and I'm just like "O-oh, yeah, I TOTALLY meant that as a joke" and they think that's funny too. I'm glad my darkness gives them laughter but I kind of crave people to talk about things with seriousness and deep philosophy as well, life ain't a joke... Or is it?

Women thoughts continued: Are the laughs like, over the top? Do you think maybe she wants your attention too and that's why she's laughing so hard? Maybe she doesn't know what to say, or maybe she's trying to flatter you that you're the one captivating her so much that you're making her laugh and you are worthy of it?

Edit for possible solution: One reason this social science fact of women laughing at a guy's joke might be to emphasize the connection she thinks you share. If you find other ways that can emphasize this that are compatible to both of you, you could stop her from "overdoing it."

What ways? Well I don't know you, her, or the scene, but I would have to say it is case by case. Giving her more attention could either help or hurt it. Feelings are tricky business. Maybe some guys can shed some light on the subject.
