The first thing that was apparent, even before the doors opened, was the nauseating smell of chemical waste. Triest almost wanted to throw up, but managed to hold firm. Giving a quick survey around him, he surmised that they were in some kind of wasteland. Distant factories still fumed, but many of the other buildings were dilapidated, or simply ransacked.
"Kind of reminds me of a few places at home. Hopefully the same techniques work too," Triest announced, before continuing, "first, I would very much like it if I could see if I can regenerate limbs or not. I lost two of them," he pointed to his back.
Triest knew how to lay low in hostile and lawless environments. He had done it before, and he wasn't fazed on doing it across in some other different world. Everyone still seemed to have the same quirks, tendencies, and ideologies that he had seen from home. No type of alien mindset. Predicting what a bunch of psychos would do shouldn't be any different.
"Eh, I suppose before we rest, we should find somewhere to rest. At least we can make shelter rather than scrapping it together, although that shouldn't be too hard either. On the assumption that both of you have never camped in lawless lands, we want shelter that's small, unremarkable, and preferably unseeable. If that means sleeping under a bunch of junk, then do it. If you look like you have even an ounce of wealth on you, then you are a target for robbery. So hide any weapons you have, and if you can, wear clothes that make you look poor, or if you are brave, none at all."
Triest stopped for a moment, before continuing after a short sigh, "Or, we can break into someone else's home and take it over. No guarantees that nobody lives there though, so we may have to evict them if they come back. By that I mean shoot them. Not like there's any law to stop us, or them. It'd be more defensible, and with all the run-down buildings, it'd still look deserted."
"Personally, if I could find an empty building, I would take that. More to work with, and the walls make me feel safe. We might have to shoot some people though if it turns out it isn't empty."
