I think that they're good, and that you can more easily insert tone and character into the story. You do miss out on things though, but that's just the nature of first person. I think when it'll get really interesting is when you start exploring and exploiting the limitations of the first person narrative, because using that limitation in interesting ways is what will make your choice of perspective worth it
