Secondary Void Saga Character Profiles
#9
Name: Richtoffen

Full name:
Dr. Edward Richtoffen

Source:
Call of Duty Black Ops 2: Zombies - Map Pack: Origins, right after upgrading the Lightning Staff.

Appearance:
[Image: Edward_Richtofen_Photo_Origins_BOII.jpg]
History: Dr. Edward Richtoffen is the former head of the Nazi Research Group during World War II called, "Group 935." 935 was tasked with finding a way to advance the Nazi War Machine, locating something that would give Germany an edge in the war. This led to the discovery of Element 115, an element not of this world. Richtoffen was a brilliant scientist, quite absorbed in his work to benefit the Fatherland. Using this new-found element, he made great strides in technology and science, and used these advancements to aid Germany in the war effort by creating things like weapons, medicine, and much more. Including Giant FRIGGEN ROBOTS.
-ahem-
But that's besides the point.
This was all well and good, until scouts discovered a rather large deposit of 115 in Northern France. Group 935 immediately mobilized to go recover it, marveling at the luck that they had had. Up until this point, element 115 was in short supply, and only very diminutive deposits and veins had been located. When the entirety of the research team made it to the battlefields of Northern France, Richtoffen set to work immediately. 115 was excavated in vast, quantities, and brought back so that Dr. Richtoffen and the other scientists could examine it and test it's properties even further. Richtoffen soon became obsessed with his work, and even began to display signs of paranoia and schizophrenia. The other scientists often talked of how they heard him speaking, shouting even, to no one but himself.
Dr. Ludvig Maxis, A fellow scientist of Group 935, was worried about his colleague and friend, and even went at lengths to prevent Edward from working. That is, until he heard the voices as well. The voice of a little girl, Samantha, who claimed that she was his daughter. Samantha was apparently from a different dimension altogether, one called Agartha. In Agartha, there was a powerful spectral force known as Aether. Samantha was in control of this power, and thus, she controlled them. Them. This made little sense, until the Unearthing.
The soldiers digging in the excavation site did not know what powers they were toying with. They were simply doing what they were told to; dig up the glowing blue rocks and bring them back to the nerds. And they were okay with this: it was a relatively safe posting, one more or less away from the bullets and bombshells. And then, they dug up one too many glowing rocks. An infection ravaged the front lines from the inside out, men dying only to resurrect moments later with a desire for the flesh and blood of their former brothers-in-arms. Zombies.
Samantha, from her place in Agartha, was able to assume mild control over the zombies, but considering she was just a child, she could not directly influence their actions. They were her lifeline to the real world, and how she got what she wanted out of it. And right now she wanted to go home. She convinced Maxis to betray Richtoffen, which in the end only led Maxis to getting infected himself. Richtoffen performed field surgery on his former friend, removing the brain and pickling it to keep the organ from expiring. By the time the operation was finished, the doors to his bunker were bashed in, and Richtoffen found himself being confronted by members of each world power: Tank Dempsey, from America, Takeo Masaki, from Japan, and Nikolai Belinski from Russia.
Forced to work together for their mutual survival, the uneasy allies banded together as a cohesive fighting force against the undead. This unlikely band of warriors is now the new "Group 935." Together, they began the steps necessary to release Samantha from Agartha and the Aether she controlled, and hopefully set everything right... But Richtoffen had plans for the Aether after all was said and done.

Goals and motivations: While the Omniverse does intrigue and beguile the scientist in Richtoffen, he is still consumed with his work back on Earth. He does plan to study this world and its inhabitants as much as he can, but the end game is to leave this dreadful place and resume his plan to seize control of Agartha from Samantha. Who knows? Perhaps he can obtain some samples of this "Omnium."
Richtoffen will locate Omni and ask that he be sent back to earth to resume his life's work, possibly with some sort of Aid. His troubled mental state is causing complications for him to think that far ahead.

Personality: Richtoffen appears level-headed yet paranoid. His mental state is slowly unraveling, and being pulled into the omniverse certainly did not help. He can be very calculating and cold, but such is the life of a scientist during war. He is almost certainly by no means of the word friendly, but perhaps this is only because he's more focused with not dying. It is also of note that he has a strange, often times morbid sense of humor. Richtoffen is quite ambitious, yet cautious. In other words, an opportunist, but he knows when he cannot win.

Possible Reactions:
This wouldn't be the first time he has had to team up with people who would, in any other situation, be his enemies. Richtoffen can be quite cold and ruthless at times, but he understands the necessity of teamwork and co-operation. Depending on how long the journey is, his mental state may deteriorate to dangerous levels... Without attention, that could become a problem. I think the biggest problem, however, is going to be comprehending flying ponies.

Relationships:
He was the only one of Group 935 to be transported to the omniverse. Richtoffen faces an uncertain future, alone.

Combat Style: Before he was transported to the Omniverse, Richtoffen was able to craft the Kemat's Bite with the aid of his unlikely friends. Kemat's Bite is a weapon of great power resembling a staff, crowned with a violet crystal. It is ornate, yet has a certain steam-punk like quality. The Kemat's Bite literally shoots lightning bolts that penetrate through dozens of bodies at a time. It can also be charged up, which releases an orb of static electricity that arcs bolts of lighting to nearby foes. It also has retractrable blades fixated to the end of the staff, that allow it to function as if it were a scythe, should the need arise, but Richtoffen is no heavy hitter. Besides combat efficiency, It also has Sehkmet's Vigor attatched to the shaft, which shoots an orb of healing energy to allies. This can heal them from near death situations, but requires a good aim. The real fault with the staff is that if it is not replenished with electricity, or some other form of viable energy, it will run out of juice until it reboots itself. In emergencies like this, Richtoffen also has a Boomhilda, which is a Mauser C23 Pistol Upgraded with the use of element 115. Essentially, its a laser pistol.

Skills: Richtoffen is a scientist, first and foremost. This makes him quite the intelligent problem solver. However, he also received mild military training from the German Forces. He can effectively aim and shoot a gun, and is quite proficient with his Lightning Staff.

Extra: Richtoffen is no stranger to death and strife. He has been through many ordeals at this point in his life. He is also aware that things such as these are simply endless cycles just waiting to be broken. His endless cycle on Earth has been broken only to be replaced with this, a much more dangerous game. Richtoffen is a dangerous man. He is unafraid to do dangerous things to himself, and to others, because of that gut feeling he gets that he WILL be back.
Oh. And he has a pretty thick German accent. (To save myself from having to type zis and zat and zey and vhat)

Possible Quotes: "Do not be afraid of death! Be afraid of the Doctor!" - Referring to himself when killing zombies.
"Such Sparks it creates! Wunderbar!" - Upon Building the Lightning Staff
"Omnium?... I shall call it Element 116!" Upon discovering Omnium and its properties for the first time.
