I disagree I bit with Mickey said as well. I've always thought Omni was very good at taking the community's wishes to heart in implementing changes and such. As for what he did, here are my thoughts:
I'm not in the chat very often during the times Omni is. However, I have seen at least a dozen requests from him, respectfully put, to tone down on affectionate behavior in the chat box. The fact that those requests weren't "in the rules" shouldn't have made them any less important to follow. If Omni decided to act because his requests weren't being taken seriously, then I can't really blame him. I know he wasn't the only one put off by it, as I've had conversations with others who were uncomfortable with the levels presented in the chat-box. Though many people who use affection in the chat in moderate to minor amounts, there are also many who take it to extreme levels.
Does this mean I support a "punish everyone for the sins of a few" approach? Not really. I've been subjected to it while I was in the military and its not fun. Of course, now that all of this is in the OOC rules, any further anger or irritation on this topic, to me, just residual feelings of being victimized. The wording of the rules aren't limiting in the least, and seem to be incredibly fair for all parties.
