Character history:

It all began with a quartet of crystals, a quartet of heroes. Neither Black Mage nor his companions could remember where the crystals came from, let alone their own natures. Despite their lack of knowledge they knew the light of their crystals needed to be restored, lest the world continue down a path of ruin.

A princess was saved. A rogue knight defeated. Black Mage was skeptical of wasting time settling "local" disputes, but the White Mage and Warrior agreed they should help all in need. The Light of the Crystals was powerful, but heroes should be indiscriminate in their aid. So they continued to fight the good fight, freeing a town from pirates, hunting for jewels of seers, and defeating dark elf 'kings' along the way. The Warrior was galant, defending the realm. The Thief was nimble, slicing would-be assassins with strength and cunning. The White Mage was kind, healing all wounds and curing all afflictions. The Black Mage was above all curious, wondering why all he could bring with his great magical power was the stench of death.

The others attempted to console him as they continued on quest after quest, defeating an undead wizard of great strength and giving light to the Warriors crystal. Hoorahs were made at the success before they continued with strengthened resolve, giving light to Thief's crystal at the defeat of a serpent of a woman, then White Mage's when the Kraken met his end. Next was Black Mage's, to be powered at a fortress floating high in the sky. Yet fate seemed to intervene.

The Flying Fortress was different, a product of strange Lufenian magic, the likes of which none of the Light Warriors had ever seen. Contraptions abound, but none stopped the determined heroes. Till the Fourth Fiend was in sight, and the Warriors of Light were attacked by a beast of incomparable strength. The Warmech's power proved too much, stripping past the Warrior's armor, besting the Thief's speed, rending the White Mage's attempts at healing. Alone and outmatched the Black Mage was ready for the end until he blacked out, awaking to find himself made mute, paralyzed, and forced to listen to the words of a faceless deity. Where once the Black Mage questioned his destiny as a Warrior of Light he now held a far different question.

Black Mage quickly creates a small fireball and launches it at an opponent, with a travel speed comparable to a medieval crossbow bolt. Damage is decent, though the intensity of the fire is not enough to cause combustion on an enemy. After around 50 meters of travel the fireball quickly fizzles out, completely dispersing after a total of 60 meters.

Ice (300 OM)
Black Mage quickly creates a small crystal of ice before shooting it at an opponent. Damage from individual crystals is minuscule, but travel at a speed comparable to a bullet. Assuming a level playing field typical range is around 50 meters, but depending on how far up/down hill the opponent is this can vary by around 25 meters.


Bolt (300 OM)
Black Mage focuses magic into a hand before releasing it, causing a bolt of lightning to course through it for another 10 meters. Deals intense damage.
