I'm Sorry, But the King You're Looking For is....
#9
Harry had followed the first road he'd come across from the area where he'd encountered those corrupted turtle... things. It seemed like a good way to get somewhere. So far, the only things he'd found were heat and random lava pools, neither of which he particularly enjoyed. In fact, the only positive was that the wizard felt more like himself in this intense heat than anywhere else in the Omniverse. If Harry Dresden, Wizard thought it was too hot, then Sir Harry of Winter thought it was absolutely murderous in the Steppes. The savage influence of Winter was so far from his thoughts he could almost forget about it; a combined result of the aforementioned heat and the shockingly peaceful walk.

Of course, nothing lasts forever, especially not peace in Harry Dresden's life. He'd been walking for about two hours before he heard it. A hauntingly familiar tune. No, it couldn't be...

"Why is someone playing 'In the Hall of the Mountain King that loudly out here?"

The closer he got towards the source of the sound, the more certain he was that he'd identified it correctly. His proximity also showed him the source; two men astride a dragonlike creature, similar to the Rathalos, though much less... spiky. It wasn't dripping venom, so that was a plus, and Harry had gotten a good bit stronger since the last time he'd fought something like that. He wasn't too eager to have to try again, though.

Not that his not wanting to intervene stopped him from picking up his speed, rushing towards the dust cloud that the dragon had kicked up. Since when did Harry ever just let something bad happen when he could do something about it? Sure, he might grumble about it, but he'd still intervene. Said intervention, in this case, took the form of an upraised staff and a spell, directed at a man who had dismounted from the dragon he'd been on before the massive dust cloud and punched a woman so hard that the mask she'd been wearing fell off. Harry wasn't too far away, but the details were still a little hard to make out through the heat. That man couldn't really have a tail, could he?

Thankfully, Winter ice didn't bother with trivialities like heat. "Infriga! Forzare!" The first word called a globe of ice into being on the end of his staff. Aiming it upward like a mortar, he propelled the projectile forward with the second one, only planting his feet for a couple seconds to do so. The soccer ball-sized projectile arced through the air...

And planted itself in the dirt directly in front of the man who, by now, Harry could confirm did indeed possess a tail. Missed. Damn. Never one to show up a chance to make an impression, the man walked up to about ten feet from a man who wielded a sword the size of a steel beam before speaking. "That was the warning shot. Now, where did that dragon go?" There was no need to let them know his aim had been off.

What kind of wizard missed with a spell, after all?
