The town had spoken. Gilgamesh, their beloved Mayor and likely Mafioso was led to the gallows. The way he stoically marched along with his escort, like a man resigned to his fate, seemed majestic to the onlookers. The rope was looped around his neck and the hangman offer him a chance to speak. Until now, he had been mostly silent, save for a plea that his death not be in vain. But, seeing as this was his last chance to speak before he died, he took the black-hooded townie up on his or her offer.
"Finally, I see some motivation from you. For two days the Mafia killed our friends as we sat by and hoped that they'd make some slip. But it's obvious that they're far too clever for that. With my death we begin an era of a bold Town. One willing to make the sacrifices necessary to ensure its survival. Farewell, my friends. I sincerely hope that you end this threat before too many more lives are lost."
His speech ended, Gilgamesh nodded to his killer, indicating that he was ready. The rope pulled taut and the life of the Mayor was lost. A search of his person and home revealed no incriminating evidence, however. It seemed the Town had chosen wrong... but perhaps now, at least, they were on the path to salvation.
