Zack looked to the side, studying Miranda for a bit as she talked. He listened and tried to understand her explanations of this war-torn reality she knew before this place. He leaned his head back as she finished explaining, resting it against the blade he was using as support.
He studied her, and understood the difference between them all too well. She had hopes, dreams, and plans before ending up here. She was trying to make her world a much better place and seemed to have the means to do so. It made sense that not everyone would think this place was as fascinating as he might. After all, he was leaving his world one way or another in those last few seconds. He was just thankful that he had made it out alive, and that he was given a new realm to explore and continue his wanderings. Frustration at the prospect of being here made sense, though. He thought back to all the other times it would have been a horrible time to be brought here.
"Guess it wasn't all sunshine and roses where I came from either," Zack contemplated out loud, milling over his last battle with ShinRa, deciding to keep his almost-fate to himself for the time being. "Guess there's always someone trying to exploit someone else. It's a sad thing that it doesn't change from world to world."
The ground suddenly started shaking, and there was an explosion of lava a couple hundred yards from them. Zack was almost certain that they were on or near a small volcano. He stood up, recovering his sword and replacing it to his back.
"Guess that's our cue to move along."
