Anyone who knows me knows I FUCKING LOVE Green Lantern shit. My love of the power set and mythology with Justice League Unlimited, and then ask the wikis on the internet ever, and finally Geoff John's run with the title. God damn Sinestro Corps War, man. Good shit.
I've always sided with villains, ever since I was a kid. They have a tendency to be more interesting characters with more depth, and usually they kick way more ass. That on top of the fact that most villains are just people who want to make a better world through extreme measures, or are good people who, through abuse and misunderstanding, have stopped giving a crap.
Sinestro has a lot if things I really look for in a character, and Geoff did a really good job if fleshing him out as a character. He is a man who wanted to make a better world, he wanted to be the best, and he had the power to do both of those things. Pride failed him. His friends failed to help him. His only compatriot, Hal Jordan, is a HUGE fucking asshole who only made things worse. Sinestro has the will to fight, the mind to lead, and the mastery to do great things. I really do believe he is the Greatest Lantern, despite his inability to straight up kill the "good guy" in the comics. It's like, him and Atrocitus, man.
There's a lot if fodder to play with there. The death if his wife, the fact that his child estranged him, the death of his mentor and the brother of his wife? Tragic stuff, plenty to pull off of.
And his powers? Holy shit his powers, guys. The creativity and fun that can come with a power ring is awesome.
