Everything was black. Voices could be heard permeating the void. Blaster fire and waves of heat made their way through the emptiness. She could almost hear her name being screamed frantically. The Mutli-Altitude Assault Transport had been hit with a portable surface to air missile. One of it’s repulsor engines had been blown clean off and the other clung to life just long enough to the let the pilot crash land. The resulting impact had blown the co-pilot’s body into a mess of limbs and tissue. Trixie had been hurled from her seat head first into a door, her helmet being knocked off in the explosion. Commander November and the Pilot had managed to drag her to safety just before the transport craft exploded into a towering inferno taking the nearby building with it.
They had arrived on Tier 5, but were far from their assigned check in station. Somehow Falkner knew they were coming and had set up an ambush. As Trixie opened her eyes for the first time in minutes since the crash her vision was stained with the blood that had run down her face. With a sharp inhale she fully regained consciousness only to feel the pilot place a hand on her shoulder to keep her still.
“Commander!” He shouted, bringing his rifle to bear upon the encroaching terrorist ambush party.
Nova rushed over and looked over her new Captain. “You took a blow to the head. Can you stand?”
With a nod Trixie took hold of her commanding officer's arm and lifted herself up. Handing the red-head her helmet the mistress put it on without question and secured it. Her brand new armor was already stained with smoke and blood, but that’s what it was for right? The heads up display in her visor displayed Nova’s position as well their marooned pilot. Every hostile target became outlined in red and a targeting reticule for each one covered their visible position. Bringing her rifle up she examined it briefly before taking a clip from her belt. Pressing the button on the drum it expanded; loading it into her rifle she waited for it to cycle before squeezing off a series of rounds. The terrorist she had aimed at dropped to the ground, his arm having been blown clean off.
“The check in point is half a click south of here on Broadview. We’re on Mason Street.” Nova reported through the comm channel. “Higgins you stay with us. You can call for transport at the check in.”
The pilot confirmed. Trixie was the muscle. It was her job to enter the breach and lay waste to what she found. Time to have a little fun; though she did not know why she was smiling, but as she knocked a terrorist to the ground and proceeded to push her boot through his skull she had never been happier. Zulenka’s rifle had a substantial amount of kick to it. These terrorists weren’t wearing any sort of real protection so it was like being struck by a moving vehicle. As the trio moved away from the wreckage the resistance began to thin out and retreat.
“Radio man! Two o clock! 200 meters!” Trixie shouted to Nova over their comms.
“I got em. I got em.” She replied patiently, lining up the sight of her weapon.
As the terrorist was calling for backup he shuddered violently as a splash of blood burst from his mouth. She took another shot to disable to communications array on his back. Satisfied now that his corpse had caught fire Terra zoomed out to scan the area.
“HUD reports zero hostiles within 300 meters. Confirm Captain.”
Removing the muzzle of her rifle from a dead soldier's disintegrated head Trixie looked around for a moment before slinging it over her shoulder.
“Negative contacts, Commander. Where’s Higgins?”
“I’m..” Before he could finish his statement the pilot was on his knees with a blue light saber protruding from his chest.
“Captain!”
Without even thinking Trixie drew the Darksaber from her belt and ignited the bladed weapon. From behind Nova approached and unclasped the rifle from around Beatrix’s body, taking it for safe keeping. November was not a trained swordswoman. All she knew how to do was, at best, basic knife fighting in close quarters. Nothing on par with a Sith or a Jedi.
“I felt a new force user on Coruscant. Me and my master were wondering who it was.”
“Speak your name or die anonymous to me.” Trixie said through the modulator on her helmet.
“So much for pleasantries then. I am Jedi Padawan Yennefer von Markham. I was sent here by my master Jedi Knight Falkner to see to it that our ambush had successfully wiped you out.”
She placed a boot to the back of the pilot and pushed him off her saber. Yennefer was of short stature, but roughly a few years younger than Trixie. Her black hair was tied into a bun for combat and her grey jedi robes hung off her lithe figure. She wielded a blue light saber common to Jedi Guardians. Without even knowing why Trixie innately knew that this meant she was more skilled in dueling than was to be expected of a padawan.
A quiet voice came over the red-headed Sith’s helmet comm. “Make it quick, Captain. We don’t have a lot of time to spare.”
With a silent nod Trixie brought her Darksaber up in front of her. Yennefer came first. Raising the blade horizontally the mistress blocked a downward slash. The black energy blade shrieked as it made contact with the blue lightsaber. Side stepping to the left Trixie rotated her blade clockwise and pushed Yennefer to the side. Lowering her blade the mistress kicked the padawan’s right knee and sent her stumbling backward. Swiping left Trixie brought her darksaber across Yennefer’s chest. Her eyes widened and she mumbled a few incoherent words in disbelief before the upper half of her torso separated from the rest of her. Extinguishing the Darksaber Trixie clipped it to her belt and took hold of the blue lightsaber resting on the ground. Clicking it off Captain Zulenka stared into padawan Yennefer’s dead eyes.
“Well that was anticlimactic.” Nova said, kicking the corpse of their foe.
A mechanical laugh escaped the dead lips of Yennefer as the hologram projecting her image onto a battle droid faded revealing an explosive charge strapped to its waist.
“Commander!”
“Oh shi-”
The device exploded showering the block with a thick dust cloud and waves of artificial fire. Nova and Trixie were thrown from their feet and pounded with debris and fire. When the smoke had cleared only the red-head had managed to get to her feet. The once white armor she wore was now further stained with scorch marks and burnt blood. The plating on her right bicep had been broken beyond repair. Ripping it from her person she winced as it opened a fresh plasma burn to the air; she could feel fresh blood flow down her arm. With a sigh Trixie collected her rifle from the ground and scanned the area for her Commander. Spying her motionless body the mistress made her way over and knelt down beside November and unclasped her own helmet. Removing it she breathed in the smoke filled air and wiped the blood and sweat from her face. Resting the helmet next to Nova’s body she removed the blonde haired woman's own visor and began chest compressions and CPR. With a cough the senior ranked sniper came back to the realm of the living.
Reaching into the assault kit strapped to her back the red-head pulled out a survival kit. Ripping open a pack of purified water Trixie sat November up and poured the self cooled liquid into her mouth. Taking a sip for herself Beatrix sighed and fell onto her butt, still propping her commander up.
“We’ve been here twenty fucking minutes and we’ve been shot down, shot at, and blown up.”
November laughed as she downed the last of the water.
“They may have known we were coming.” She said with a smirk, hiding obvious pain.
“You think?” Trixie shot back, taking a first aid kit from her assault pack.
“I definitely have a few broken ribs, Captain.” Nova said, pressing down on her stomach with a grimace.
Taking an injector and a vial of blue liquid Trixie loaded the medical instrument and pressed it to Nova’s neck. Pressing the trigger the needle administered a dose of bacta and pain relievers to the Commander.
“Dammit! Warn me before you do that.” She said in protest.
Ignoring her Commander Trixie pressed the same gun to her neck and pulled the trigger. With a wince Trixie could feel her pain slowly going away. Her concussion and burns were slowly becoming minor irritations. Stowing her medkit and supplies the mistress got to her feet and pulled November up with her.
“Orders?” Beatrix said as she bent down to grab her helmet and rifle.
Leaning on the gun she took her datapad from her belt and opened it. They were still less than half a click away from their target and not only that, but now they were injured.
“Fuck check in. We know where they are supposed to be. Let’s just kill them all. Whatever it takes.” Terra said in frustration.
Trixie grinned as Nova opened her communicator.
“Command. This is ARC Trooper Commander November Terra. We are Status Orange. Requesting MAAT Transport and Aerial Anti-Infantry Squadron for escort. Coordinates…156 889 of Tier 5.” She spoke into the device on her hand.
“Roger that, Terra. Carrier inbound. Weapons will be hot. Mark yourselves with red smoke.” The voice responded from the other end.
Without hesitating Terra had pulled the pin on a canister of red smoke and tossed it into the crater left by the bomb. Help was on the way.
