“ZULENKA!”
The sleeping red-head moaned incoherently.
“I’m sorry, sir. It’s a side effect of the mnemiotic neurotransmitter. Once the stimulant wears off they need to sleep.”
Nova splashed the red-headed vixen with a glass of cold water. A man stood next to her at attention.
“Wake up, soldier. High Command is here to evaluate you.” November said urgently as she dragged Trixie from her bed.
“Put these formal fatigues on and be in the living room in five minutes.”
The mysterious male officer and Commander Nova left the room and closed the door. She could hear voices and talking coming from the other room. She felt absolutely horrible. Her head throbbed, making her vision pulse with each heartbeat. The room was spinning and the mistress felt as though she could vomit. Forgetting her personal ailments she quickly stripped and dressed herself into the formal soldier’s attire. Tying her hair into a tight pony tail she walked to the mirror on the back of the bedroom door and straightened her shirt.
With a sigh she opened the door and headed out into the living room. The man from earlier was sitting on the couch reading a data-pad while Nova was leaning against the wall next to the hallway. Four elite imperial guards were at the door standing behind an armor clad man wearing a helmet. Dredd was the name printed on his uniform. Her vision was still shaky and she could barely make out most of the room clearly.
“Ensign Zulenka. Glad you could join us.” Said the man on the couch. A grunt of disgust came from Dredd. Nova swallowed nervously.
As the man stood up Trixie saluted him and stood to attention.
“My name is Colonel Victor Morrigan. I am in charge of Special Forces Regiment Seventy Two. Specifically the Advanced Recon Commando or ARC Trooper mission assignments. Commander November reports directly to me. The seven two has had a tough past year.”
The Colonel eyed Beatrix up and down before continuing.
“Commander Terra is the only remaining member left. You were chosen to fill the next available spot and seeing as you’ve passed all of the preliminary checks you’re good to go. However I don’t have the final say.”
Victor looked at Dredd who grinned and walked forward.
“Judge Dredd is the High Commander of the both Coruscants Space Marine divisions and it’s Stormtrooper Legions. He is a police force in and of itself.”
Victor turned to face Trixie again. “Because you have no record of ever being on Coruscant and you are basically a blank slate, The Judge wanted to personally make sure your loyalty was secured to our cause and to your unit.”
This was all happening so fast. Trixie didn’t know what to make of it. While it was an honor to be inspected like this she was worried. Judge Dredd nodded with approval and two of his elite guards made their way to the red-head. Before she knew what was happening a heavy boot landed hard against her sternum. Taking the hit she stumbled backward feigning under an incoming hook. Using the coffee table to her advantage she balanced on both hands bringing her right heel into contact with someone’s chin. A guard stumbled backward into the bar leaving an opening for Trixie to flip backwards, pushing the coffee table into the oncoming storm troopers’ shins making him fall forward into the mistress’ knee. Shoving the incapacitated soldier aside she bolted towards her second opponent. However just before she reached him her world fade to black. Trixie was thrown through the coffee table with a thud. The first soldier had recovered and knocked her cleaned on the back of the head. Brushing themselves off the two elite guards of Judge Dredd returned to the door behind their superior.
“So I take it she’s cleared?” Victor asked.
With a nod Judge Dredd took the data-pad off the bar and signed his name. Pressing a few buttons he handed it to the Colonel before taking his leave. Turning to Nova, Colonel Morrigan snapped his fingers.
“Carry her to my shuttle. Her gear just arrived last night from the manufacturer. As did your new stuff. I had everything delivered to your pent house armory on Tier 2. I’ll drop you off there. You have a pending mission so get her ready and able as soon as you can.”
Nova cracked open a chemical activated cold-pack and placed it against Trixie’s forehead. “Roger that, Oberst.”
Images of a dark haired woman cutting through lines of soldiers and covering herself in the blood of her enemies permeated through Trixie’s mind. She awoke with a start inside a bacta tank. The automated systems alerted Commander Terra to her new comrades’ status with a series of alarms and beeping noises. Immediately the tank drained and Trixie was dropped to her knees. A rinsing spray of warm water cleaned the mistress of any remaining bacta fluid before the glass sheathe lifted up exposing her to the cold air conditioned pent house. Removing the rebreather from Trixie’s head Nova wrapped a towel around her body and stood her up.
“What happened?” Beatrix said with a cough.
“You passed, Captain.” Replied Nova.
“W-what? Captain?” Trixie asked in disbelief.
“You are now ARC Trooper Captain Beatrix Zulenka of the 72nd Special Forces Regiment. I have a brand new set of armor and rifle in the armory. I also grabbed that pistol from the bar in the apartment. I assume you wanted that as a sidearm?”
Trixie nodded, still processing everything that was happening. It was all occurring so fast. She was now a Captain in the Imperial Army. Terra had even gotten her a suit of armor and a weapon.
“When you’re ready, get dressed and come to the armory. We have a job so I need to go over a few things with you.” Nova ordered with a smile. Patting Trixie on the shoulder she left the medical bay.
